"Elias…" Seeing him silent, Victoria felt a strange sense of unease.

"I'm not free next Monday," he said.

Victoria frowned slightly. The divorce had already been dragged out for too long. She didn't want a repeat of last night.

"Then when are you free? I can work with your schedule—"

"Victoria, don't you have a conscience?" Elias cut her off, his voice laced with scorn.

Victoria was taken aback. "...What?"

"Grandpa was just hospitalized because he was so angry about our divorce. He hasn't even been discharged yet, and you're already in such a rush. Why? Are you that desperate to divorce me and marry Tobias Holt?"

Elias couldn't explain why, but seeing the complete absence of love in her eyes made him want to trap her by his side.

He looked down at her. "You claim to see Grandpa as family. Is this your so-called devotion?"

Victoria glared at Elias. It was one thing for him to not believe her, but to question her sincerity toward Old Mr. Shawn?

"Elias, how I treat Grandpa isn't something you can negate with just a few words!" Victoria said, her hands clenched in anger. "Not everyone is as blind and heartless as you!"

There was that phrase again. Old Mr. Shawn had said it, and now Victoria was saying it.

Elias's eyes turned cold. He sneered, "Anyone can say nice things. If you truly cared about Grandpa, you'd understand that now is not the time to be getting a divorce certificate."

His words left Victoria momentarily speechless.

While Old Mr. Shawn wasn't truly in a coma, the news of their divorce had indeed taken a toll on him.

"We'll finalize the divorce after Grandpa's out of the hospital and we know for sure he's okay," Elias stated, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. He had made the decision, and Victoria was forced to accept it.

She lowered her gaze and said nothing.

Elias added stiffly, "Don't worry. Once Grandpa is fine, I'll finalize the divorce with you immediately. But until then—"

"You'd better keep your distance from Tobias."
