The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 164

Abbey bit her lip, not saying a word.

The elevator descended from the thirtieth floor, reaching the first sublevel garage in no time.

Seeing Abbey's hesitation, Grady probed, "Is it a problem at work?"

"No."

"Then are some colleagues not cooperating with you?" Grady asked after a moment's thought.

Abbey's eyes stung. She shook her head and mumbled, "Everyone has been very kind to me."

It wasn't a problem with work, nor was it an issue with her colleagues. Grady frowned, glanced at the time on his phone, and asked in a low voice, "Then what is—"

Suddenly, Abbey threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms tightly around him.

Grady froze.

Before he could process what was happening, Abbey quickly let go. She looked up at him earnestly. "Mr. Sanger, I... I just feel a little uneasy. I wanted to tell you to be safe on the road."

Grady stared at her, and after a moment, he came to his senses. He had a strange impulse to reach out and pat her head.

However, he stopped his hand midway and just said, "Okay."

Five minutes later.

Abbey stood at the elevator entrance in the underground garage, watching Grady's car drive away. Her eyes, unable to hold back any longer, reddened and filled with tears. She kept whispering, "I'm sorry."

"Grady, I'm so sorry."

"I'm really... really so sorry."

Three days later, in Brentwood.

Grady clutched the USB drive in his hand as he walked out of a dilapidated residential building, dialing Victoria's number.

Victoria had just come out of a meeting. Seeing several missed calls from Grady, she answered immediately. "Grady, what's wrong?"

"Victoria, I've figured it out. The truth about the accident two years ago, and Genevieve... I've found everything. I have the key evidence."

Victoria froze. It took her a long moment to understand what he was saying. She turned and started walking out of the Design Institute. "Grady, where are you? I'll come find you right now."

Grady opened his car door and slid into the driver's seat. "I'm in Brentwood. I'm heading back to The Imperial Capital now. Don't worry, I'll call you in three hours. We'll go straight to the police station."

"Okay." Victoria's heart pounded uncontrollably.

Grady stepped on the gas, ready to hang up.

Victoria stood at the entrance of the Design Institute. A cold wind carrying a light mist of rain blew past, chilling her to the bone. She held out her hand to catch the raindrops, an inexplicable sense of unease rising in her chest, reminding her of the nightmare she'd had a few days ago.

"Grady," she called out, stopping him just as he was about to end the call.
