"I want to make a deal with you, Ms. Donald."
"It's true that I had someone steal the design drafts for Midlake Estates, and they've already been destroyed."
"But I can help you secure Vista Heights Lodge, on one condition: you must give up on the Midlake Estates project. You will submit the project file you have—the one without the design drafts—exactly as it is."
"Ms. Donald, you must be aware of how valuable Vista Heights Lodge is. With a project like that under your belt, what do you have to fear? Besides, Victoria gave you that file. You trusted her and never even opened it. So if there's a problem with the file, how could it possibly be your fault?"
"One project is doomed to fail, the other is a sure thing. Ms. Donald is a smart woman. I'm sure you know what to do."
The video was filmed from a slight angle, but it was easy to identify Genevieve and Felice.
The room fell dead quiet, only the voices from the video filling the air.
Panic flashed across Genevieve's face. She lunged toward the laptop, intending to shut it off.
But Sunny, as if prepared, snatched the laptop away just as Genevieve's hand was about to touch it. She dodged to the side and winked gleefully.
"Director Vale, the video isn't over yet. What are you doing?"
"Give it to me!" Genevieve's expression was fierce as she lunged for it again, heedless of everything else.
Victoria stepped forward and grabbed her wrist, her gaze cold. "Genevieve, even if you turn it off now, what good would it do? I have dozens of copies of this video. You can't delete them all."
"Ah!" Genevieve shrieked, glaring venomously at Victoria.
Victoria tightened her grip slightly, then flung Genevieve's hand away. She pulled the USB drive from the laptop and placed it on the table in front of Mr. Blake.
Mr. Blake was shaking with anger after the two videos. He clutched his chest, gasping for breath as he pointed a trembling finger at Genevieve. "You… you… It was you!"
Panic flashed across Genevieve's face. "Mr. Blake, this video is fake! It wasn't me, I didn't—"
Suddenly, Felice, her face pale, burst into laughter. "Surprised, Genevieve?" she said, her voice filled with vindictive pleasure. "You're not getting away with it either! You bitch!"
Looking at the chaos, Mr. Blake felt his vision go dark.
"You… all of you, get out!"
As he finished speaking, he was overcome by a wave of fury and collapsed forward.
"Mr. Blake!"
"Someone call an ambulance!"
The room erupted in panic. Everyone shot to their feet and crowded around the unconscious Mr. Blake.
Seeing her chance, Genevieve turned to slip away in the confusion.
But Sunny's sharp eyes caught her. In a few long strides, she blocked Genevieve's path. "Director Vale, where do you think you're going?"
Genevieve's expression soured.
Mr. Blake's assistant had already called the police. They would be here any minute.
