Hearing this, Sunny's lips parted, but no words came out.
Victoria explained calmly, "Six years ago, I was granted a special entry to compete in The National Collegiate Architectural Design Awards. On the final day for submissions, I uploaded my design to the computer and emailed it to the organizers..."
The memory of that time opened up like Pandora's box.
To this day, Victoria remembered the afternoon the results were announced. The sun was shining brightly in a clear, cloudless sky.
She had just finished a lecture and was about to leave the classroom.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted in the room. Everyone's eyes turned to her, filled with admiration and awe. While she was wondering what was going on, Cerys rushed in and threw her arms around her.
"Victoria! You're amazing! Your design won first place in the national competition!"
Victoria looked at the screenshot Cerys shoved in her face. Her heart hammered in her chest, and a smile spread across her lips.
The other students in the classroom gathered around, congratulating her cheerfully.
At that moment, she was so immersed in the joy of winning that she didn't even look closely at the winning design.
It wasn't until after she and Cerys had finished celebrating and were walking back to the dorms that she ran into Tamara.
Tamara's face was pale, and her eyes were red as she confronted her. "Victoria, why did you plagiarize my design? I trusted you so much! Why would you do this?"
Victoria was stunned by the sudden accusation and didn't know how to react. Beside her, Cerys immediately jumped to her defense.
"Tamara, what are you talking about? There's no way Victoria would plagiarize your design! She won The National Collegiate Architectural Design Awards! That's ridiculous. Look at your own skills compared to Victoria's. Or do you think you can just accuse someone of plagiarism with no proof?"
Tamara wasn't good with words. Cerys's retort left her speechless. She clenched her fists at her sides. "Then ask her why the winning design is mine!"
"Impossible!" Cerys shot back instantly.
People passing by heard their argument and stopped, whispering among themselves.
They were all architecture students. Victoria was a top student, frequently praised by their professors. She was beautiful, kind, and her design talent was undeniable. In contrast, Tamara had few friends and a quiet, unremarkable personality. The difference between her and Victoria was night and day.
Instantly, everyone sided with Victoria, accusing Tamara of making false claims.
Listening to their mocking and accusations, Tamara couldn't take it anymore. She broke down and ran away.
