The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 252

"Meow!" The sound was followed by a startled yelp from a cat.

It was Dawn!

Victoria's face paled. She threw open her bedroom door and rushed into the living room.

The front door, which should have been closed, had been forced open. Light from the hallway spilled inside.

"Dawn? Dawn!" Victoria turned on all the lights in the living room and called out a few times.

Dawn, who usually came running at the sound of her voice, was unnervingly silent.

Dawn was gone!

Without a second thought, Victoria pulled the door wide open. She dialed building security with one hand while hurrying toward the elevator.

The screen above the elevator buttons showed that one of the cars was descending, finally stopping on the first floor.

The other elevator arrived.

Victoria stepped inside and pressed the button for the first floor. Her knuckles turned white as she gripped her phone, Dawn's terrified cry echoing in her ears.

Moments later, the elevator reached the ground floor. Victoria ran out of the apartment building, her eyes scanning the dimly lit surroundings.

"Dawn!"

Suddenly, she spotted a small black shape huddled nearby. She immediately started running toward it, completely unaware of someone hiding in the shadows.

The person saw her and lunged out, throwing a bottle of unknown liquid at her while screaming, "Victoria, you bitch, go to hell!"

Caught off guard, Victoria's pupils contracted.

Just as the liquid was about to hit her, a large hand gripped her arm, yanking her back and spinning her around, shielding her in a protective embrace.

Victoria's injured forehead slammed into his chest, and a wave of pain washed over her, making her mind go blank for a second.

A pair of strong arms held her tightly.

A cool, woodsy scent, unique to the man holding her, filled her senses. A steady, powerful heartbeat seemed to throb right next to her ear, and for a moment, Victoria couldn't tell if it was her own or his.

Behind them, the security guards sent by building management arrived quickly and wrestled the attacker to the ground.

"Let me go! Let me go! I'm serving justice! Ah!" His face was pressed against the pavement as he writhed and struggled.

Seeing this, the security captain ordered his men to restrain him and take him away.

The man's screams brought Victoria back to her senses. She looked up and met Elias's bottomless eyes. Her heart skipped a beat, and she pulled away from his embrace.
