“Holy crap—”

Jonah jumped, his heart skipping a beat when he suddenly heard Lucian’s voice. The curse slipped out before he could stop it. He immediately slapped a hand over his mouth and whipped his head around to look at the sofa inside the private suite.

After confirming that Elias was still undisturbed, he finally relaxed his hand, patting his chest and glaring at Lucian, who was watching him with a gloating smirk.

“You scared me to death!”

“A clear conscience fears no knock at the door, right?”

Jonah pulled out his phone to text Hawk, telling him not to answer any calls for a while. He then crossed his legs and leaned back. “What Holtilty conscience? I’m just doing a good deed without looking for credit.”

After sending the message, Jonah linked his hands behind his neck and stretched, relaxing his shoulders. “If this works out, Elias and you both owe me a five-star meal.”

Lucian glanced at the dark screen of the phone on the table. “You called Victoria?”

Jonah’s legs snapped down, and he sat bolt upright. “What the hell, Thorne, do you have me bugged? How did you know?”

Lucian’s eye twitched. Getting him to treat Jonah to a meal was easy; he could throw a few high-value projects his way, and Jonah could eat as much as he wanted. But getting the current Elias to treat anyone to dinner was impossible, unless…

Unless this ‘good deed’ he was talking about had something to do with Victoria.

“Did Victoria agree to pick Elias up?” Lucian poured a glass of red wine, sat down, and glanced toward the fi Holtre on the sofa.

The suite was dimly lit, with colorful lights reflecting off the walls, making it hard to see clearly.

Even so, Lucian clearly saw the man—who had been doing nothing but drinking himself into a stupor all night—visibly stir the moment he said the name ‘Victoria’.

Jonah deliberately kept him in suspense. “No, but it’s pretty much a done deal.”

Lucian had no patience for his games. He took a sip of wine, set the glass down, grabbed his coat, and stood up. “Good enough. Let’s go.”
