Ding!
The elevator doors slid open, and Elias stepped out, quickly arriving outside Genevieve's room.
The door was ajar.
Clatter!
A loud noise came from within as a stainless-steel cup was knocked to the floor. The warm water spilled out, soaking the nurse's uniform.
Genevieve's sharp, piercing voice followed. “I said I'm not taking it! Not taking it! Are you deaf?!”
The nurse's face paled. Meeting Genevieve's sinister gaze, her heart dropped, and she instinctively took two steps back, trying to soothe her. “Okay, okay, if you don't want to take it, then you don't have to. Miss Vale, please, just calm down.”
She had seen what Genevieve was like when she lost control.
One moment she was sobbing hysterically, the next she was banging her head against the wall, then she was screaming curses, throwing anything she could get her hands on. It was terrifying.
So when she was assigned to give Genevieve her medication, she had tried to find an excuse to get out of it. But no one else wanted to handle this trouble, and since Genevieve had been quiet all morning, the nurse had gritted her teeth and gone in.
At first, Genevieve seemed normal, just staring at her with lifeless eyes.
But just as the nurse finished preparing the medicine, thinking she just had to watch Genevieve take it and then she could leave, Genevieve suddenly stood up, swatted the items out of her hand, and violently shoved the small cart over, her face contorted in a snarl as she screamed.
“Get out! Get out! Get out of here!”
Genevieve picked up a small pair of scissors that had fallen from the cart and glared at the nurse, the corners of her eyes bloodshot. She looked as if she was about to lunge and stab her with them.
The nurse, seeing this, forgot all about trying to calm her down. Her life was more important. She turned to run, but after just a few steps, she crashed into a solid wall.
“Please, don't…” the nurse cried out in panic, thinking Genevieve had caught up to her. The plea escaped her lips automatically.
But when she looked up, she realized she hadn't run into Genevieve, but a man.
