The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 354

Elias released her hand, gave her a single glance, and walked into the room to sit on the sofa.

“Hawk said you have a clue about my accident five years ago. What is it?” he asked, his tone cold and direct.

Genevieve bit her lower lip.

She had expected Elias's first words to her would be of concern, but he hadn't even deigned to look at her.

Had she become that repulsive to him?

Remembering how he’d said he would believe Victoria unconditionally, Genevieve felt a surge of bitterness. She approached him, her eyes red.

“Elias, I really didn't hurt Victoria that day. She was lying. She's deceiving you. I… I can swear it, Elias, please believe me. And… and the matter with Garnett and Grady Sanger, it really had nothing to do with me—”

“So what?” The man looked up, his cold gaze cutting her off.

Genevieve froze. Staring into Elias’s deep, unreadable eyes, she seemed to understand something. Her heart sank, and the color drained from her face.

‘So what?’

Elias meant that even if Victoria was lying, he would still choose to believe her.

In the day and night since she'd woken up, Genevieve had clung to a sliver of hope.

She thought Victoria must have done something to make Elias believe her lies so readily. She was certain that once she saw Elias and explained things, everything would go back to the way it was.

Elias would go back to giving her whatever she wanted.

But now, Elias had personally shattered that hope.

“Elias, no, you're joking, right? You're still angry with me, that's why you're saying this, isn't it? You hate it when Victoria lies to you, how could you possibly—”

“Nothing is impossible.”

Overnight, the Vale family was on the brink of bankruptcy, teetering on the edge of collapse.

Desperate, Gallagher had swallowed his pride and found out Elias was at The Cloudscape. Disguised as a waiter delivering drinks, he had slipped into the private room to beg Elias to go easy on the Vale family.

Later, Jonah Chase had somehow steered the conversation to Genevieve’s marriage to Henry.

When Gallagher heard Genevieve claimed he had forced her to marry Henry, he had exploded with rage, proclaiming his innocence.

His exact words that night were: “Two years ago, I did consider forcing her into a marriage. The Vale family had an investment stuck in limbo, and the investor happened to be looking for a match for his youngest son. I figured since that wretched Victoria would never marry into the Shawn family, I’d fly abroad to find Genevieve and have her marry the investor’s son.”

“But when I saw her, there was a man with her who she said was her new husband! At first, I thought she’d just grabbed some random guy to fool me. When she saw I didn’t believe her, she pulled out her marriage certificate to show me.”

“I still remember it clearly. The name on the spouse line of that certificate was Henry, and the date of registration was about two weeks after she had gone abroad!”

Genevieve bit her lip, her face ashen.
