“Miss Sanger, it’s time for you and Mr. Shawn to have your picture taken,” the photographer’s assistant said softly, stepping forward to remind her.
Victoria was taken aback. “Me and Elias? Together?”
The assistant glanced at the schedule. “Yes. Didn’t Mr. Shawn tell you? He arranged for a formal couples’ photo of the two of you.”
A formal couples’ photo…
Victoria felt her heart skip a beat, as if a stone had been dropped into a still lake, sending ripples spreading through her.
“I…” Her gaze instinctively drifted to the backdrop in the distance. The deep blue fabric had been replaced with a vibrant red, which stood out dramatically against the surrounding white walls.
Garnett was standing there, waving at her, gesturing for her to hurry over.
“Miss Sanger, is there a problem?” the assistant asked with concern, noticing her dazed expression.
Victoria quickly lowered her eyes, hiding the complex emotions within them. “No… it’s nothing,” she said, shaking her head.
She walked over and stood in front of the red backdrop. As she watched Elias approach her step by step, her fingers curled slightly. She couldn’t quite describe the feeling.
The shoot began. The photographer skillfully handled the camera, constantly changing positions and angles, occasionally giving directions.
“Head a little lower, yes. Mr. Shawn, turn a bit more this way… Great, hold that.”
Victoria was distracted the entire time, only vaguely aware of the photographer’s voice echoing around her. By the time she came back to her senses, the couples’ photo session was over.
Garnett stood in front of the computer screen displaying the live feed, looking at the red-backed photo of Victoria and Elias. A knowing smile spread across his face as he remarked to Mr. Flint, “Secretary Flint, don’t they make a handsome couple?”
Mr. Flint smiled without saying a word. The photographer’s assistant chimed in, “Absolutely. Miss Sanger and Mr. Shawn look like they were made for each other. With looks like theirs, they’re incredibly photogenic!”
Garnett chuckled. “That’s what you call a perfect match.”
Hearing this, the photographer’s assistant’s eyes flickered.
A few months ago, the scandal between Elias and Genevieve had been the talk of the town; almost everyone knew about it.
And just recently, The Shawn Group had entrusted Genevieve with designing a project as important as Meridian Centre. Rumors had been flying that the two were about to get engaged and were just waiting to make the official announcement.
