Victoria froze for a second. The credits rolling across the massive screen came into view, and she finally realized where she was.

With that, he stood up, not waiting for Victoria's response, and strode toward the exit of the theater.

The cleaning crew was already coming in. Victoria gathered her thoughts, saw Elias walking away without a single glance back, and hurried to follow him before he disappeared entirely.

Outside, dusk was settling in. Through the car window, she could see a vast expanse of clouds that looked as if they were scorched by a great fire. The orange-red light of the sunset cast a warm glow on the pedestrians below.

Victoria stared at the clouds, her mind drifting.

The private cinema wasn't far from Willow Creek Estates, only about a ten-minute drive.

Neither of them spoke a word the entire way.

The Maybach came to a smooth stop in front of the apartment building where she was renting. Victoria unbuckled her seatbelt and pushed the door open to get out.

Elias's rich, deep voice came from behind her. "Hawk will come pick you up tomorrow at three in the afternoon."

Victoria paused mid-exit. Without looking back, she simply said, "Okay," and got out of the car.

Elias watched her walk away, his sharp brows furrowing slightly.

Victoria was right there in front of him, and she hadn't said a thing, yet he felt an inexplicable sense of growing distance between them, leaving him with a pang of loss.
