The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 380

“I… I have to deliver drinks to the next room, sir. Could you please let me pass?”

Abbey wasn’t naive. She could see the ill intent in the man’s eyes at a glance, but having little experience with the world, a trace of nervousness still showed on her face.

The man spent his days in bars and clubs and had seen hundreds, if not thousands, of women. Most of them looked at him like predators stalking prey, desperate to pounce.

It was rare to see someone so innocent.

Abbey was attractive, the pure and innocent type, with a classic oval face and clear, bright eyes. She looked completely out of place here.

“And if I don’t? What are you going to do about it, huh?”

As he spoke, the man lifted his other leg, crossing it over the low table with a curious smile playing on his lips.

Abbey’s expression shifted.

She glanced back. The coffee table in the private room was long, made of two tables pushed together, with the other end nearly touching the wall.

To get out that way, she would have to walk past a dozen other people.

It sounded simple, but the situation she’d face would be no better than her current one. And because the man had spoken during a lull between songs, everyone else had turned to look at them.

Abbey pressed her lips together, unsure how to get out of this.

Just then, the escort nestled in the man’s arms pouted coquettishly.

“Mr. Yates, you’re so mean. Look, you’ve scared the poor girl so much her face has gone pale.”

Mr. Yates grabbed the escort's wandering hand from his chest and glanced at Abbey, a scoundrel's smile on his face.

“Scared her? I didn’t scare her. I just feel sorry for a young girl like her having to sell drinks, so I wanted to give her a little tip.”

Mr. Yates pulled a stack of cash from his wallet and held it out to Abbey, tilting his chin to gesture for her to take it.

The escort’s eyes flickered.

She had been entertaining him all night, flattering him and faking smiles, and Mr. Yates had only given her a few thousand in cash. This drink girl had done nothing, and he was ready to throw ten thousand dollars at her?

On what grounds?

An imbalance grew in the escort's heart. She ground her teeth, then stood up, took the cash from Mr. Yates’s hand, and stuffed it into Abbey's arms.

“Hey girl, this ten thousand is more than you’d make mindlessly delivering drinks for half a month. What are you hesitating for? If Mr. Yates says to take it, then take it.”

Abbey looked at the escort, who bent over to open two bottles of beer.

Keeping Abbey in her peripheral vision, the escort subtly angled her body to block Abbey’s view and tapped the bottle's opening with her fingertip.

A nearly invisible white powder fell from under her nail into the beer.
