The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 400

Meanwhile.

At the hospital, in Genevieve’s room.

BANG!

Victoria had sped all the way from Willow Creek Estates to the hospital. After getting out of her car, she had sprinted frantically toward Genevieve’s room.

Finding the door locked from the inside, she kicked it open without a second thought.

Inside the room, Genevieve, who had put on light makeup for the day, was sitting on the edge of her bed.

Seeing Victoria burst in, the corners of her lips curved into a slight smile. Though her tone was one of surprise, her eyes were calm and untroubled. She showed no shock at Victoria's sudden appearance, as if she had expected her all along.

“Victoria, what can I do for you?”

“Where is my father?” Victoria’s face was like a sheet of ice as she delivered the cold question.

Genevieve blinked innocently, feigning confusion. “What?”

Garnett’s health was fragile. The memory of him collapsing in the garden and being rushed to emergency care burned in Victoria’s mind, a tormenting mix of anxiety and fear.

Seeing Genevieve play dumb, she lost her patience. From her sleeve, she produced a small switchblade.

It was the same knife she had used to stab Harry. She had hidden it in her sleeve before coming up.

In an instant, a cold light flashed.

Genevieve’s expression changed when she saw the blade. She instinctively took a half-step back. “Victoria, what do you think you’re doing!”

Victoria had no time to waste with her.

On the way over, she had considered everyone who might have taken Garnett. After thinking it through, Genevieve was the most likely suspect.

“Victo—AH!”

Genevieve held her breath, her body rigid. In the reflection on the blade, she could see the pulse of the vessel beating beneath the skin where the knife point rested.

A large bead of cold sweat rolled down her temple. She opened her mouth to speak, but then she heard Victoria ask another question.

“By the way, did you know that arterial and venous blood are different colors?”

Her tone was eerily calm, yet it carried a chilling undercurrent of madness.

Victoria didn't wait for an answer. She continued on her own, “If you don’t, that’s okay. Because soon you’ll be able to see what arterial blood looks like. You’ll even get to watch it spurt out in large gushes.”

“It's just…”

Victoria drew out the words, pausing before she went on, “I don’t know if you’ll be in the mood or have the time to appreciate it. After all, a cut carotid artery is extremely painful. And in just twenty or thirty seconds, you’ll die from blood loss.”

“You wouldn’t dare!” Genevieve’s face grew even paler. Her eyes were fixed on the knife. She took a deep breath, perhaps to convince herself as much as Victoria, and repeated, “Victoria, you wouldn’t dare kill me!”

“Murder gets you sent to prison! This is a hospital, there are cameras everywhere. If something happens to me, you won’t get away with it, even if Elias tries to help you. Besides, have you forgotten about Grady? He’s still lying in a coma because of you!”
