The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 419

The hospital room fell quiet again. Victoria leaned against the soft pillow, her gaze drifting to the night outside the window, an empty feeling in her heart. Her thoughts turned to Elias, and she wondered how he was doing.

Just then, the door creaked open, and Hawk walked in.

He looked exhausted. "Miss Sanger, Mr. Shawn is out of surgery."

Victoria's heart leaped. She sat up straight, her calm expression tinged with an underlying urgency.

Hawk pressed his lips together before speaking slowly. "The surgery was a success, but… Mr. Shawn lost a lot of blood. He's still very weak and has been moved to the ICU. He's still in a coma."

Victoria's suspended heart had just begun to settle, but hearing he was still unconscious sent it plummeting again.

She picked up her pen and wrote a few words on the paper.

"Take me to see him."

Hawk looked troubled. "Miss Sanger, the ICU has strict visitation rules, and with your condition…"

Victoria looked at him, her eyes unyieldingly firm. "Even if it's just from the outside. I won't be able to rest until I see for myself."

Hawk sighed at her stubbornness.

"Alright. I'll go speak with the doctor and see if they'll let you look from the outside."

A short while later, Hawk returned to the room pushing a wheelchair. "Miss Sanger, the doctor agreed. But you can only look for a few minutes, and you must not get too agitated."

Victoria nodded, signaling for Hawk to help her up.

Hawk carefully assisted her out of bed, settled her into the wheelchair, and draped a coat over her shoulders.

The hallway was quiet, the only sounds being the soft footsteps of nurses and the rhythmic beeping of machines.

As she thought about what Hawk had said regarding Elias's condition, Victoria's heart began to beat faster with nervousness.

Hawk stopped the wheelchair at the entrance to the ICU. "Miss Sanger, we can watch from here. They won't let us inside."

Victoria followed his gaze. Through the glass window of the room, she saw Elias lying on the bed.

He was hooked up to all sorts of tubes and machines, their screens displaying fluctuating data. His face was ashen, his lips bloodless, and thick gauze was wrapped around his forehead, with faint traces of blood seeping through.
