"The phone number?"
Felice was confused. Wasn't it her family member's number? Did she not have it herself?
But Victoria confirmed her request, and just then, someone knocked on her office door. Not having time to ask more questions, Felice found the number in her call history, copied it, and pasted it into a message to Victoria.
"I've sent it," she said, gesturing for her subordinate at the door to come in. "Victoria, I have something to deal with here, so I'll let you go. Since you're sick, just focus on resting at home. Once you're better, you can come back. Don't worry about work; I've got it covered."
"Thank you, Director Donald."
Felice just laughed it off and hung up.
Victoria opened her messaging app. Felice's profile picture was at the top of her chat list. Before she even opened the conversation, the phone number appeared right below Felice's name.
How could it be... Elias.
So, it was Elias who had called Felice, posing as her family.
Victoria froze, a strange, prickling sensation spreading through her fingertips as she held the phone.
At that moment, the door to her room opened.
She looked up abruptly.
Cerys stood in the doorway, panting.
"Cerys..."
Cerys ignored her, strode over, grabbed her arm, and yanked up her sleeve without a word.
The needle mark from the blood draw was surrounded by a large, dark purple bruise, which stood out starkly against her pale skin. Cerys's fingers, holding the sleeve, tightened. Her face went cold, and she turned to storm out.
Victoria knew this was a sign that Cerys was truly furious, and she knew exactly who Cerys was going to find.
"Cerys, I did it voluntarily." She grabbed Cerys's wrist, and fearing she wouldn't be believed, she added, "Really."
Cerys had been sound asleep when Tobias called. The moment she heard that Elias had taken six hundred milliliters of blood from Victoria, her drowsiness vanished. Her heart felt like it had stopped. She floored the gas pedal and sped to the hospital.
Seeing the needle mark on Victoria's arm confirmed it. A rush of blood went to her head, and all rationality evaporated. The only thought in her mind was to find that bastard Elias and make him pay.
But now, Victoria was telling her she had done it willingly?
Cerys's chest heaved. She took two deep breaths but still couldn't quell her rage. "Victoria, what is going on inside your head?!" she snapped.
She rarely got angry with Victoria.
But this time, she was truly livid.
"Cerys..."
