At the entrance of the living room, Elias stood watching, his cold, unreadable expression filling the room. He surveyed the scene with cold indifference, his piercing gaze finally settling on her, his tone laced with impatience and disgust.
"Victoria, what kind of scene are you causing now?"
Hearing this, Victoria's lips tightened into a bitter, ironic smile.
Seeing each other again after more than ten days, his wife cornered by several bodyguards, and a husband's first reaction isn't to reprimand them for their insubordination, but to assume, without asking, that his wife is making trouble. How laughable.
Laurel clutched her chest, taking several deep breaths. Upon seeing Elias, she immediately pointed at Victoria and said, "Elias, quickly! Right now! Immediately! Divorce this woman!"
"Mom, I already told you—"
"I don't want to hear it!" Laurel's voice shot up, forcefully cutting him off. Her chest heaved, her face growing paler. "Elias, I'm telling you, you must divorce this bitch right now! Today, it's either her or me! If you don't agree, I... I..."
With that, Laurel grabbed a water glass from the coffee table, smashed it on the floor, and picked up a shard, aiming for her wrist. "I might as well die right here, since no one listens to me anyway!"
Elias's eyes narrowed. With lightning speed, he snatched the shard from Laurel's hand, his voice stern. "Mom, whether I get a divorce is my business. You should know that threatening me with death is useless."
"Fine, fine! Threatening you is useless! Then take a good look at this!" Laurel staggered back two steps and threw a medical report at Elias. As it fluttered, the line 'Confirms knowledge of six-week pregnancy, consents to termination of pregnancy' caught his eye.
In the living room, the air seemed to freeze, the pressure dropping suddenly.
"Do you see it clearly?" Laurel asked Elias, then pointed at Victoria, her voice shrill. "This woman has only ever thought about using the Shawn family! She hid it from everyone and heartlessly got rid of your child, and now she can never get pregnant again! She's a heartless murderer! If we keep her around, am I just supposed to watch you end up with no children and see everything our family built fall apart?"
After a long moment, he finally spoke, his voice cold and heavy as he asked Laurel, "Where did this medical report come from?"
"Elias! Don't you understand yet? It doesn't matter where this report came from! What matters is that this bitch—"
Elias shot her a glacial look.
"Where else could it have come from? The hospital mailed it, of course! If it hadn't been sent here, I wouldn't have known how long she planned to hide this from us!" Laurel said resentfully. She paused, wanting to say more. "Elias..."
But Elias cut her off coldly, his command absolute. "Mom is tired. Take her to her room to rest. Without my permission, no one is to set foot in here!"
