The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 348

The officer played the footage once, then let Nadine out of the interrogation room.

“Nadine, you’re within your rights to press charges. That goes for the attacker and for anyone who gave false testimony,” the officer said.

Nadine didn’t even pause. “I want to press charges. Not just against Luther, but everyone who lied for him.”

“Understood.” The officer immediately started a new case file.

By twelve thirty, Catherine was walking Nadine out of the station.

“Come on, get in. I’m taking you to lunch,” Catherine said, unlocking her car. “Let’s call it a welcome-back meal. Time to shake off all that bad luck.”

Nadine hung back for a second, her face lit with excitement. “Honestly, I didn’t think you’d get me out this fast.”

“I always planned to get you out,” Catherine said, smiling. “You got lucky it happened early. Aaron really pulled through for us.”

She was still clear-headed enough to remember that Ivan’s team had Neville, their weak link.

“Lance really looks out for you,” Nadine said. In her mind, Aaron’s help was thanks to Lance, since Aaron worked for him.

“You’re sharp and you know what you’re doing. No wonder Lance trusts you so much,” she added.

Catherine just took a breath and smiled, not sure how to respond. “Alright, get in. We’ve got a whole other scene to play this afternoon.”

Nadine slid into the passenger seat.

They grabbed a quick lunch, then headed back to the office.

Catherine had Nadine draw up two termination letters—one for the PR director, one for the head of security. She didn’t stop there. Both of them had to pay for the trouble they caused the company. No severance, and they even had to pay breach-of-contract penalties.

With Nadine now on her side, Catherine had pulled off a total comeback, knocking out two of Ivan’s main people.

Ivan called the police station, only to find out Catherine already had the surveillance footage. He couldn’t figure out where things had gone wrong, but he knew one thing for sure. With Lance backing her, he didn’t stand a chance.

He called Ingram. “We need to do something. We can’t let Lance keep protecting Catherine.”

Ingram sounded almost amused. “That’s easy. It’s about time we put Lance’s little fiancée to good use. Don’t make any moves yet. Wait for me.”

“Alright,” Ivan said.
