Catherine reached up, grabbing his arm, desperately trying to get the phone from him. Lance just lifted his arm higher. She stretched as far as she could, even tiptoeing, but she still couldn’t reach.

“He’s irresponsible, Catherine. Why are you so determined to protect him? I thought you hated being abandoned more than anything.”
