The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 569

Catherine looked anything but fine.

There was no color in her cheeks, and her usually luminous eyes now had a hollow, shadowed dimness.

“I’m alright. Go tend to your wound. Don’t worry about me,” she said, forcing a faint smile as she glanced back at the house.

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, Amanda was pounding on the glass, her features twisted in a grotesque rage as she shouted something they couldn’t hear. The sight sent a chill running down Catherine’s spine.

“Alright, get going. Don’t worry about me—a scratch like this is nothing,” Gavin said, stepping aside and waving her off.

Letting Catherine see Amanda like that again would only hurt her more.

Once Catherine had driven away, Gavin’s face darkened, his gaze turning cold and sharp. He glanced back at Amanda, jaw tight.

“Keep a close watch on her,” he told the bodyguard. “And start digging—her entire bloodline, I want everything. Find out exactly what her connection to the Lee family is, and I want a complete account of everything that’s ever happened between them. Leave nothing out.”

“Yes, sir,” the bodyguard replied immediately.

Gavin turned to leave, but a sharp hiss escaped him as he climbed into his car, teeth clenched. “Damn it, that old witch! Hurts like hell!”

As Catherine waited at a traffic light, a harsh horn snapper her out of her thoughts—the light had turned green.

She hit the gas and drove off.

Getting tangled up with the Lee family was asking for trouble; everyone who got involved only ended up worse for wear.

Not just Lance—even Gavin was now being dragged into this mess. She couldn’t afford to let either of them get pulled in any deeper.

Throughout the drive home, her mind spun frantically, working through possibilities as she tried to figure out her next move.

When she finally pulled up outside her house, she didn’t even go inside before taking out her phone and calling Gavin.

He picked up almost immediately. “Ow—that stings! Catherine, what’s up?”

“Did you get your wound treated?” she asked.

“I’m at the hospital. Harrell! Are you out for revenge or what? Take it easy, will you?” Gavin barked, then caught himself, voice softening for her. “Don’t worry, really—it’s nothing. Just a scratch—ow!”
