The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 606

Tapping the soles of a baby's feet was a good trick when they cried so hard they couldn't catch their breath.

"I saw it in that parenting book on your nightstand," Lance said.

Catherine had brought that book all the way from Cabinda. She occasionally flipped through a few pages when she had free time, but she still hadn't finished it.

Lance read much faster than her and had already completed it.

"Looks like that book is pretty useful. I'll read it more when we get back," Catherine said, feeling a bit frustrated. She felt like she was suffering from a serious case of pregnancy brain. She would read something and immediately forget it, constantly forcing her to backtrack.

"No matter how much you read, it won't be as effective as just keeping me in the room," Lance said.

Catherine ignored his teasing and focused on her food.

After they ate, they headed home together. Lance left his car at the company and rode back in hers.

Outside the building, Geoffrey rolled down the window of his parked SUV and watched them get into the same car.

"If she hadn't called, I could have chatted with Lance a bit longer," Geoffrey grumbled. "This project is more about reputation than profit. Lance would definitely have caved."

Lemuel was playing a game in the passenger seat. At those words, he glanced up just in time to catch a glimpse of Catherine's profile as she got into the car.

He frowned, feeling a strange sense of familiarity. He had met her before, but this felt different.

"Still playing?" Geoffrey snapped, his head throbbing at the loud sound effects. "Look at the mess our family is in! What do you even do all day?"

Lemuel put his phone away. "You won't let me do what I actually want to do!"

Geoffrey was furious. "What can you even do?"

"How would you know if I can do it if you never give me any real responsibility?" Lemuel's face darkened. He opened the door and stepped out, ready to walk away.

"If you have the guts, go convince Catherine to return to the Lee family! Then I'll let you into the company!"
