The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 607

A flood of fragmented memories rushed back, piecing together the events of that chaotic day at the club in her mind.

Catherine quickly interrupted her own thoughts. "I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a mistake."

She sat down and took the file from Lance's hands. "What's this?"

Lance leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he looked at her. "Lemuel's background check."

All traces of Lemuel's life abroad had been meticulously erased. However, everything after his return to the country was fully documented. After receiving a foreign education, he had one-on-one private tutors back home.

He blazed through middle and high school curriculums in just a few years and was admitted to a top-tier domestic university at the age of fifteen.

In Eldervale, the popular rumor was that he had bought his way into the school. Even putting his young age aside, very few students could actually get into a top-tier university on merit alone.

Sure enough, once he started college, Lemuel slacked off and barely attended any lectures.

After turning eighteen, he became a notorious regular at all of Eldervale's major entertainment clubs. He gambled, messed around with women, and ruined his own reputation.

"Lemuel's reputation is terrible," Aaron sighed. "No wonder he hasn't been allowed to join The Lee Group."

"Is he actually a bad person, or does he just have a bad reputation?" Catherine asked.

Although she hadn't interacted with Lemuel much, and he certainly looked the part of a reckless delinquent, she couldn't forget the few words he had spoken to her at the club.

There had been a faint, lingering sorrow about him. The more she thought about it, the more she realized it wasn't the demeanor of a true playboy.

"I dug a little deeper. The guys Lemuel hangs out with have already taken over their respective family businesses. Logically, people in different circles drift apart, but after all these years, Lemuel is still very close to them. They don't treat him like a useless degenerate," Aaron noted, finding it strange.

In the business world, men like Lance were revered and constantly courted for connections.

True playboys and reckless heirs usually surrounded themselves with other party animals. The two groups rarely mixed.
