The Gates Family.
Life was as peaceful as ever.
Kevin accompanied Robert to play chess under the shade of a tree.
Samantha and Nora sat by the small pond, leisurely feeding the goldfish.
"Charlotte called me just now. She's coming over today."
Nora tossed fish food into the water, watching the lively fish with a gentle smile on her face. "Donald seems to be coming back with her."
Everyone knew about Charlotte leading a team abroad for an academic exchange.
But the kidnapping incident was kept a secret from the family.
"Huh?"
Hearing this, Samantha paused, the fingers holding the fish food rubbing together as she turned her head to look at Nora. "Donald is coming back too?"
"Yeah." Nora nodded with a smile, asking in confusion, "Didn't you know?"
"What?"
Samantha bit her lip and immediately ordered a maid to fetch her phone.
"I was half asleep in the middle of the night when I suddenly got a call. It was Donald." Samantha frowned as she spoke. "But on the phone, he said... he was bringing a daughter-in-law back for me."
"A daughter-in-law?"
Nora's eyes widened slightly, revealing a surprised expression. "I haven't heard anything about him having a girlfriend."
"Right?"
Samantha quickly agreed, carelessly tossing fish food as she looked up at the sky and sighed. "So, it's highly likely I was just dreaming."
Out of her three sons, he was the only bachelor.
He was out braving the elements every day, surrounded by rugged, straight-laced men.
Where would he find the time to get a girlfriend?
Sigh.
"Ma'am, your phone." The maid handed her the device.
Samantha unlocked her phone, wanting to confirm if she had been dreaming.
Unexpectedly, when she opened her call log...
There really was a call from Donald!
If that was the case, was the line "I'm bringing a daughter-in-law back, so prepare yourself" true or false?
Just as Samantha was lost in her confusion, the butler's voice came from the entrance.
"The eldest son and Miss Charlotte have returned."
They were back?
Samantha and Nora stood up at the same time, looking toward the front gates.
