Chapter 630 Protests

Judy’s POV

Finished

I felt sick to my stomach as the plane descended. It meant that we were almost home… Nan called just before the plane took off in Jeremy’s territory to tell me that there were a large number of protesters outside the villa, led by Olivia and some of her friends.

My stomach knotted at the thought of them protesting me. Matt and Irene were at the villa as well, so they had to deal with all of this. The last thing I wanted was for this to affect Gavin and his family.

Gavin reached over and took hold of my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

‘Don’t overthink it,” he tells me softly. “We will figure this out.”

“They are protesting me in front of your home, Gavin. That’s not okay,” I say to him, hating that tears were starting to fill my eyes.

He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into him, practically sitting me on his lap.

“It’s your home too,” he said softly, placing a soft kiss on the nape of my neck, causing a shiver to run through my entire body. “And if they are disrespecting you, it means they are disrespecting me as well. That’s not okay with me.”

I snuggled into him, loving how protective he was of me, but I couldn’t help but feel guilty as well.

“If I were better…” I started to say, but he silenced me by pressing his lips to mine.

“You are perfect,” he whispered against my mouth. “I don’t want you to think otherwise, got it?”

I nodded, though the knot continued to form in the pit of my belly. I was scared of what we were about to walk into. I wasn’t sure what we were going to do.

When we finally landed, the gammas kept us on the plane while they assessed the area and deemed it safe. Then Taylor met us in a car, and we got into the vehicle without being detected. I didn’t like having to hide like this, and I didn’t like forcing Gavin to hide with me.

But he was stuck to my side like my personal bodyguard, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like him being

near me.

I rested against him, his arms still fully around me like a vice, as if he was afraid I might slip away at any

moment.

Taylor slipped into the driver’s seat and let out a breath as he looked at Gavin through the rearview mirror.

“It’s a large number of protesters,” Taylor warned, his eyes narrowed. “Mostly women.”

“Olivia is leading it?” Gavin asked for clarification.

Taylor let out a breath.

“It was,” Taylor said. “But now Lila’s there, and it seems like she took over the protest.”

“What? “I asked, sitting up straight. “Lila is there?”

He nodded and then put the car into drive.

“I don’t think it’s safe for you to stay at the villa. I got in contact with the Montagues, and they agreed that you can stay with them for a few days while we sort through everything. Get the pack back in order.”

“I’m not letting my future Luna stay anywhere besides with me. We’ll go with her,” Gavin said, tightening his hold on me.

“I don’t want to make you do that,” I said, shaking my head.

“We are a team now,” he said, placing a hand over my protruding belly. “We are a family, and we go together…as a family. Irene and Matt would agree as well.”

“I need to break the curse for Irene so she can find her true mate,” I said, tears filling my eyes. “I can’t deal with all these distractions.”

These damn pregnancy hormones were making me way too emotional. I hated that I couldn’t stop crying and that this was hurting me more than I’d like to admit. Gavin was able to read me well, though, and seemed to know what I needed. He pressed his lips to the side of my face and held me close so I could feel the rhythm of his heartbeat.

It was calming to both my wolf and me; she just wanted to bury herself inside of him and make a home there. He was my home. He was my safe place, and at that moment, I knew he was right. I couldn’t spend a few nights away from home. I needed to be with him and his family, or I would never be able to handle any of this.

When we reached the villa, my mouth almost dropped at how many wolves were outside the villa gates. Taylor wasn’t kidding; it had to be at least half the pack, primarily women. A couple of them in the front had megaphones, and most of them had signs reading something negative about me.

My heart ached at the sight, and I couldn’t help but cry more tears that gathered in my eyes. Thankfully, the car was tinted so that nobody could see me. But they weren’t stupid; they all knew I was in the car and that Gavin was most likely with me.

They turned their attention to the car that was driving through them.

“Judy is nothing but a liar!” Lila said, her eyes pinning the car with a deadly glare. “She’s an imposter. She claims that she’s the heiress of the Blackwell family, but that’s a lie. I’m the only Heiress that the Blackwells know, and my brothers will vouch for me on that!”

It was at that moment that I realized that her brothers, Noah and Emmet, were standing behind her, both their arms folded across their chests. Noah looked as if he’d rather be anywhere but there, but he was still there, standing by his sister and ready to fight her battles.

He was admittedly handsome, but he looked just as mean as Daisy described him, and I suddenly felt bad that she was tied to someone like him. Which reminded me, I needed to help her too.

But I wasn’t even sure where to begin with that.

“Judy Montague is a nobody orphan and doesn’t deserve to be our luna!” Olivia shouted.

Gavin’s growl was fierce, and it sent a chill down my spine.

“Stop the car,” he ordered Taylor between his teeth.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Taylor warned.

“Taylor,” Gavin warned right back, with a hint of threat behind it.

Taylor sighed and pulled the car over, putting it in park. Before I could comprehend what was happening, Gavin was already getting out of the car and walking towards the crowd that was still standing outside the

gates.

“Get off my property before I turn you all into rogues,” Gavin.growled at them, making their eyes go wide. “If you come here again and disrespect my family, I’ll make sure none of you see tomorrow.”

“We only want what’s best for this pack,” someone in the crowd shouted. “We have a right to decide if we want Judy as our Luna, and we don’t. We think Lila would make a better fit.”

“She’s the Blackwell heiress!” Someone else shouted. “She’s the best choice as our Luna… and the only person we trust.”

“If you truly believe that this woman is telling you the truth, then that says a lot about you and the pack that I’ve created. I’ve failed you otherwise,” Gavin said, his eyes burning a hole in each of them. “Get off my property before I send my warriors after you.”

They didn’t stick around to find out whether he was being truthful. They all started to walk away, murmuring to one another. The only ones who remained were Lila and Olivia, along with Olivia’s friends.

“You are making a mistake, Alpha Landry,” Lila said, narrowing her eyes. “We had a real connection a long time ago, remember? You trusted me-”

“And you broke that trust by lying about who you were,” Gavin shot back. “You lost every right to me.”
