Chapter 629 Judy’s Magic
Gavin’s POV
Finished
Erik was out of control; not that I could blame him. If he hadn’t gotten to Chuck first, I’d be the one losing it. I was seconds away from punching Chuck myself.
Chuck growled when he realized his nose was broken. It was getting dangerous here, just as I feared it would. I quickly whipped around to where Judy was standing, my eyes looking onto one of my warriors who was standing closest to her. I didn’t have to tell him what I needed; he gave me a nod and stepped in front of her, shielding her from the dangers ahead.
turned back towards the fight; Erik had the upper hand, and I had to admit, I was proud. Chuck was a arge man and an even larger wolf; he had many years of training behind him and was technically above Erik in rank, yet Erik was taking him down like he was nothing.
had to reevaluate Erik’s position once this was all said and done.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe he wouldn’t be such a bad mate for my laughter. At least I know she would be protected and she deserved someone good like Erik.
Though it was appearing that he also had a temper and a dangerous side. I’m not going to lie; I didn’t pull Erik off him sooner than I probably should have. I let him have a few more blows in before I stepped into he middle of the fight.
grabbed Erik and pulled him off Chuck before he entirely shifted into his wolf. Chuck was seething and covered with scratches and blood. He was snarling, his eyes glowing bright, and I knew he was about to hift.
Stop!!” Judy shouted.
When I turned to look at her, her hand was outstretched, pointing at Chuck. The gamma in front of her
eemed frozen in place, his eyes wide, as Judy stepped around him, her cheeks flushed and her eyes lmost wild.
But that wasn’t the crazy thing; the closer she got, the more I realized she was glowing. It was the same glow as I saw at the packhouse that happened in front of everybody. Her eyes were also a lot brighter than hey had been a moment ago, and then, to my surprise, an outline of a wolf appeared around her in the haze of the glow.
My mouth fell open at the sight of her; I had never seen her look like this before, but I couldn’t seem to ook away; my wolf was practically panting at the sight of his mate in all her glory.
Her eyes were fixed on Chuck, though, and when I turned to look at him, he had stopped mid-shift.
Once the shifting process starts, it’s tough to stop in the middle of it. I could tell from the look on Chuck’s face that he was in pain, and he wasn’t pleased. His eyes were glowing yellow, and his teeth were elongated; fur started to sprout from his skin, and some of his bones were half-cracked.
I looked back at Judy, whose hand trembled slightly, but she didn’t drop them. I could practically hear the rapid beating of her heart. Though she put on a brave face and looked like she knew what she was doing, I knew she was terrified of screwing up.

“Why can’t I finish shifting?” Chuck asked through his teeth.
Finished
Judy walked forward, and as if on cue, the gammas around her stepped away, creating a pathway. She looked so confident and beautiful right now; even if she was secretly terrified, she hid it well and even made Chuck wince slightly.
The corner of my lips curved as I watched her step closer to Chuck. He looked like a scared little boy about to be scolded.
“What are you doing?” Chuck asked. “Stay away from me.”
Ignoring him, Judy held up her other hand, her eyes remaining on Chuck’s face.
“Make him shift back to human,” Judy said, and for a moment, I wondered who she was talking to. But then I saw it…
Tendrils of magic swirled around her, obeying her command as if it answered to her and her only. Her hair started to rise from the slight breeze that circled us, and then suddenly, orbs of light emerged from Judy’s glowing body and headed straight towards Chuck.
He gave a panicked yelp as the orbs circled him, and then he howled as he shifted entirely back into his human form.
“What the hell,” Chuck growled. “How is that possible?”
The orbs returned to Judy, dancing around her for a moment before they went back inside her. It made her glow even brighter for a moment, then dim. When she let out a breath and stepped back, staring down at her hands with disbelief on her own face, the glowing stopped altogether, and she was back to normal.
There was a lot to unpack with this one, but we didn’t have the time to figure it out right now. Chuck was frozen; he was entranced by what had just happened, and I’m sure the magic swirling around him, controlling his wolf and his movements, took a lot out of him. He looked drained.
I looked back at the other gammas who were watching with wide eyes and open mouths. I cleared my throat loudly, getting their attention. Then, I nodded towards Chuck.
I didn’t have to tell them what to do; we’ve already discussed it, and it was planned for this very thing. Well… not the entire thing. We had no idea this was going to happen to Judy, or that she could control other people. But we did have a feeling that Chuck wouldn’t go willingly.
After seeing what Judy could do, Chuck and his men didn’t even bother fighting. I’m not even sure if Chuck even noticed that he had been taken. My gammas had him tied and lifted before he could even fully grasp what was happening.
Erik stayed back, and I couldn’t blame him; he probably wanted to kill Chuck as severely as I did, but we both knew we couldn’t. If we did, it would cause a war between territories, and that’s not something we can risk.
Judy stood in place, still staring at her hands with awe.
I walked over to her.

“Are you okay?” I asked her, not wanting to startle her while she was lost in thought.
She blinked a couple of times before she looked up at me.
“Something weird happened,” she said, biting her lower lip.
I nodded.
“Yes, we all saw,” I told her. “Want to talk about it?”.

“The magic,” she said, her brows furrowing. “It listened to me. I told it to do something… and it did.”
“Yes, that’s how it seemed on my end, too,” I told her. “How did you know that would work?”
She was quiet for a moment, and I knew she was contemplating telling me the truth or not. I could feel the inner turmoil through our bond. I wasn’t going to let her lie her way out of this one or keep anything from me. I stepped in front of her, so I was no longer standing beside her. I wanted to face her and force her to look me in the eyes.
She lifted her gaze, and as soon as our eyes locked, her eyes widened.
“Tell me the truth,” I demanded. “How did you know that would work?”
She swallowed, and then she let out a breath.
“I heard a voice in my head.”
I blinked, not sure I heard her correctly.
“You what?”
She rolled her eyes and folded her arms across her chest.
“I knew you’d think I was crazy… that’s why I didn’t say anything at first,” she told me. “I heard a voice in my head, and I’m pretty sure it was the Moon Goddess.”
“The Moon Goddess spoke to you?” I asked, and then I furrowed my brows. “I don’t think you’re crazy. found out you’re a high priestess. You were bound to hear her at some point.”
“Please don’t call me a high priestess,” she murmured. “I’m not even ready to be called a Luna.”
I raised my brows and then put my hands on her shoulders, steadying her for a moment.
“You’re going to be a fantastic Luna,” I told her softly. “You’re already a fantastic leader.”
“You really think so?”
