“It wouldn’t be under Judy’s name,” Irene said, stepping beside me. “It’d be under mine or Nan’s. We are the ones who were invited. Irene Landry.”
The bouncer raised his gaze to Irene and narrowed his eyes, his frown deepening.
“Irene Landry?” He asked, slowly. “Do you have some kind of ID?”
Irene looked taken aback by the question. Her brows furrowed
“My ID?” She asked. “I don’t have my purse on me, but that shouldn’t matter. I’m Irene Landry… I never need my ID.”
“If you don’t have your ID, then you can’t enter,” the bouncer said, folding his arms across his chest and narrowing his eyes.
Irene’s cheeks flushed.
“Look, I don’t know who you think you are, but you can’t talk to me like that,” Irene said. “I’m a Landry. My father could end your career?”
“Nice try, but the Landry’s don’t go to parties outside of their territory. Gavin Landry would never allow his precious daughter to go this far from the Silver Crescent Pack. It’s unheard of.”
“Are you kidding me?” Irene asked, narrowing her eyes. “I was literally invited. Check the list… my name should be there.”
“Yes, and it was never confirmed. How do I know you didn’t find out that Irene Landry was invited and are now posing as her?”
“Are you serious?” Nan asked, narrowing her eyes and folding her arms across her chest. “I’m on that list, too. Nan Rugby?”
He looked at the list and then back at Nan.
“Nan Rugby also did not RSVP. Do you have an ID to prove that you are her?”
“I left all my stuff in the limo,” Nan said, rolling her eyes. “I’m not sure how far Erik had gotten.”
She turned to look at me.
“You’re making a big mistake,” I tell the bouncer. “I’m engaged to Gavin. You are denying us entry?” I asked.

“Yeah, and I’m the King of the world,” the bouncer laughed as his eyes trailed over my body. “Trust me, I know Alpha Gavin Landry, and if I wasn’t convinced before… I am now. You girls are trying to play me for a fool. There’s no way Alpha Landry would go for someone like… you.”
His eyes dropped to my belly, and I felt heat flood my cheeks.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Nan asked, stepping closer to him like she was about to fight him, but Irene held her hand up, effectively stopping her.
“It means I’ve seen the women that Alpha Landry is seen with, and they are stunning… and thin,” the bouncer said, his eyes finding my belly again, a scowl on his face. “Not someone round…”
My mouth nearly hit the ground.
“I’m pregnant, you jerk,” I said through my teeth. “Comment on my body again and see what happens.”
“Okay, I’m going to have to ask you, ladies, to leave. If you can’t prove that you are who you say you are, I’m going to have to assume you’re lying. No ID… no Entry,” the bouncer said. “You haven’t even shown me the invitation.”
The invitation was on both of their phones, which neither of them had. We didn’t think we would need any of this stuff; when we go out as a group, we don’t usually need to bring anything. Almost everybody in the territory knew who we were by now. Though we don’t often travel into neutral territory, I’ve never seen this guy before.
How could he not at least recognize Irene, who’s been featured in a ton of magazines? I looked around, trying to get a glimpse of someone we knew. There were a few I recognized from the pack watching the ordeal; however, they did not attempt to help. They upturned their noses and pretended they weren’t watching.
Clearly, they were on the side of Lila, and this was their show of disrespect towards their future Luna.
“Come on,” Irene said, grabbing my arm and pulling me away from the bouncer. “I don’t want to cause a scene. It’ll look bad.”
I followed her back through the crowd, my hands clenched at my sides.
“So, what’s the plan? Have Gavin call Erik and have him come back?” Nan asked, shaking her head and pressing her lips firmly together, creating a thin line.
“No, we don’t need him to return,” Irene said, a little too quickly. “My father will sort this out and-”

“I’ll sort what out?” Gavin asked as he walked towards us. “What happened?”
He put a hand on the small of my back.

“That bouncer wouldn’t let us in without an ID, and Nan and I left our things in the limo,” Irene said, folding her arms across her chest.
“Wait, what?” Gavin asked, his eyes darting towards the front entrance.
The line was getting smaller now that most were either inside or forced to leave because they weren’t invited.
“He won’t let us in,” Irene said again, “He’s being a complete dick.”
“Give me a second,” Gavin muttered as he pulled out his phone.
Irene had the look of triumph on her face, and then she motioned for me to follow her. Nan and I trailed after her, wondering what she was doing. Then, we saw her approach the bouncer again.
“I’m warning you… You better let us in,” she said, raising her voice a little louder.
My chest tightened; Irene was right earlier when she said we shouldn’t cause a scene. I wondered why she suddenly changed her mind.
“You again?” The bouncer asked, rolling his eyes. “Did you get me an ID proving your story?”
“I don’t need my ID… I’ve never needed it before. I understand that you’re new around here… but you don’t want to cross my family or me,” Irene said through her teeth.
I could hear the emotion in her voice, and I knew this was much more than some asshole trying to keep us out of an event.
“I’m not going to tell you again,” the bouncer said, narrowing his eyes. “I have a direct order from the host of this party not to let anyone in who didn’t RSVP and to keep an eye out for any impostors.”
“We aren’t impostors,” Irene said, scowling.
“Do you really think you’re the first ones today to tell me that they are important and need to be at this party?”
Irene was about to say something more, but then the small gasps around us drew my attention to Gavin, who was walking through the crowd. His face was stone cold and very much like the Gavin I first met.
The bouncer’s face paled at the sight of him, and he stepped back.

“Alpha Landry?” The bouncer stammered. “What an honor, Sir.”
“Daddy, that’s the guy being a dick,” Irene said, folding her arms across her chest and giving the guy a smug smile.
His eyes widened, and his face paled even more if that was possible. Gavin’s glare was chilling; even I had to look away.
“Is there some kind of problem here?” Gavin asked, his tone deep.
“No, Alpha,” the bouncer said, his body shaking. “Of course, not… I didn’t know she was your daughter… I thought she was lying.”
“I told him it was me,” Irene said, rolling her eyes.
“What’s your name?”
“Alex,” the bouncer replied quickly. “I just started.”
“You’re new around here?”
