Chapter 635 Lila’s Party
Judy’s POV
I sucked in a sharp breath.

“She invited rogues to this party?” I asked, my heart thudding against my chest.
Why would Lila invite rogues to her party? They weren’t a part of our pack and had no say in whether or not she became a Luna or not. Not to mention, they were dangerous and unpredictable creatures.
“It’s neutral territory; they are allowed here,” he reminded me.
“Yeah, but I don’t see why she’d invite them to begin with, and how does she even know them? The bouncer isn’t letting anyone in unless their name is on the invite list. She would have had to invite each of these rogues personally.”
“The Blackwell family had been away for a long time in hiding. I’m not entirely sure who they’ve encountered during their absence.”
“I’m definitely going to need a drink,” Irene murmured, her eyes glued to her phone.
She had a faraway look on her face, and my chest tightened at the sight; I knew she was probably waiting for a text or something from Chuck. She still had no idea that we had Chuck captured and being interrogated back at the Silver Crescent packhouse by Beta Taylor.
She doesn’t want us to know that she’s been in contact with him, but we know. I wanted to ask her about it, but I thought against it, not wanting to upset her. Besides, we needed to focus more on whatever Lila was planning and less on Irene’s relationship situation.
“I could go for a drink too,” Nan admitted. “Is there a bar around here?”
“Yeah, there’s one around the corner,” Gavin replied as we made our way towards an empty small table. My back was hurting from all this walking and standing, so when we found the table, I let out a breath of relief. I was so ready for this pregnancy to be over; I was over 6 months pregnant at this point, but I looked like I was about to pop at any moment.
Eliza warned me that I was going to start getting bigger a lot faster because of how powerful this baby was. It wasn’t a normal pregnancy, that’s for sure, but I didn’t think I would be wobbling around this early on.
Gavin helped me sit down.
“I’ll get us some drinks. You, ladies, stay seated and don’t talk to anyone,” Gavin said, eyeing each of us.

We all nodded in agreement. He bent and pressed his lips against mine, and it took everything I had not to pull him closer and deepen the kiss.
I loved kissing this man. He set my insides on fire every time.
Irene put her phone down and leaned back in her seat; she looked tired, and I knew it was because she hadn’t slept in a while.
“Are you feeling okay?” I asked her, eyeing her carefully.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I want to get this over with. Can we find Lila, put a stop to whatever shit she’s doing, and then go home?” Irene asked.
She didn’t sound like herself. She sounded irritated, and it made my chest tighten.
“We are working on it,” I assured her. “Just need a little patience.”
Irene rolled her eyes, acting like a bratty teenager, as she picked her phone back up and started to type away again. I shared a worried look with Nan, who offered me a slight shrug in return, neither of us knowing what was running through Irene’s head.
Gavin returned moments later with drinks in hand. He gave both Irene and Nan a glass of wine, him a glass of whisky, and me some water with a lemon. I smiled my thanks to him as I took a sip of the water, letting out a breath of relief as it soothed my dry throat.
“I have to use the bathroom,” Irene suddenly said as she stood.
Gavin looked like he was about to protest her going off by herself, but I put my hand on his arm to stop him.
“I’ll come with you,” I told her, and then I looked at Nan. “Coming with us?”
She nodded and stood to her feet.
We made our way through the crowd until we found the bathrooms down a long hallway.
Irene made her way into a stall, and I leaned against the counter with Nan standing beside me, fixing her hair and makeup.
“So, what’s the plan?” Nan asked, peeking at me through the mirror.
“I’m not sure we have one,” I admitted. “I guess we are just waiting for Lila to make some kind of move.”
“What kind of move do you think she’s going to make at a party?” Nan asked, raising her brows. “It’s not like she’s going to cause a scene or anything.”

“For Christ’s sake, she’s Lila Blackwell… of course she’s going to make a scene. Being the center of attention is what she does best,” Irene said as she flushed the toilet.
The stall door swung open, and she stepped out, staring between the two of us. We were staring back at her, wide-eyed, and then she rolled her eyes and made her way to the sink.
“But as a future Luna, you can’t let this bitch let you break. You need to stand strong and show this pack who is truly in charge,” Irene continued as she washed her hands. She was avoiding both of our concerned looks now.
“And how am I supposed to do that?” I finally asked after a pause.
She looked as if she were about to answer, but then the door swung open, and my entire body froze as Olivia and a couple of her friends walked into the bathroom. They all sneered when they saw us.
“Who let trash into this party?” Olivia asked, folding her arms across her chest.
“Liv…” Irene murmured in greeting as she threw her paper towel away. “I should have known we’d run into you at some point.”
“I have to say, Irene. I’m surprised you’re even out of bed,” Olvia said, her eyes narrowed. “Aren’t you embarrassed to be seen in public? You are all the tabloids can talk about with your recent breakup. Such a shame you can’t seem to keep a mate. You must be so depressed.”
“You shouldn’t talk about something you have no idea about,” Irene said between her teeth, her cheeks flushed.
I stepped in front of Irene, feeling a wave of protectiveness.
“Let’s not do this in here,” I said, putting a stop to whatever Olivia was going to say in return. “We were just leaving the bathroom, so if you’ll excuse us…”
Olivia laughed, sending a chill down my spine.
“Oh, this is rich. Are you seriously trying to act like you are some superior boss or something? Just because you are marrying our Alpha doesn’t make you our boss,” Olivia spat. “It just means Alpha Landry clearly lacks judgment, but Lila will set him straight soon enough.”
I raised my brows.
“Actually, it kind of does,” I said, tapping my chin with my finger. “In fact, I’m pretty sure that makes me his Luna, which would also make me your Luna.”
She pressed her lips together and stepped closer to me.

“You will never be our Luna,” she said through her teeth. “Lila Blackwell is way more deserving, and she’s got real experience learning all the ways of being a Luna by Selene Blackwell herself… a true inspiration. You have nothing to offer us, and pretty soon, Alpha Landry will see that as well, and then he will choose Lila over you.”
“Are you forgetting that Judy is pregnant with Gavin’s baby?” Nan asked, stepping forward to stand beside me. “He’s not going just to throw her away.”
“Not to mention she’s my father’s mate,” Irene murmured, shaking. “You’re insane if you think he’d choose Lila over his own mate.”
“This is why Lila is throwing this party,” Olivia said with a shrug. “To show the pack that she cares about them and she is willing to do whatever it takes to prove to them that she can be trusted. Then, there will be a voting period during which the entire Silver Crescent pack can vote for or against Lila. As a pack, we are allowed to appeal to any Luna, and we appeal to you.”
I felt rooted to the ground, blood rushing to my ear.
Nan put a hand on my shoulder, centering me.
“Don’t let her get to you, Judy. You’ll make a great Luna,” she assured me, keeping her tone low. “And Gavin would never let anything like that happen. You have to believe that.”
I let out a breath; she was right, and I did believe that.
