Judy’s POV

My entire body was shaking as Gavin had me wrapped in his arms. He pulled me close to his chest, but I still couldn’t take my eyes away from Daisy’s mark.

Or at least the mark that used to be on her neck and was replaced with my claw marks. My stomach knotted, and the silence that surrounded us was deafening. Noah was still rolling on the ground, gripping his chest, pain evident on his face, but Daisy was only breathing heavily. It didn’t look like it was pained breathing… she looked… relieved?

“Daisy?” I asked, pulling out of Gavin’s arm and rushing towards her.

Guilt was hitting me hard; I hurt her. I could have killed her.

I’m not sure what compelled me to strike her like that, but I saw her glowing and throbbing mark on her neck, and all I could think was that I needed to break that bond between her and Noah so I could set her free.

The next thing I knew, my hands were no longer my hands…they were the claws of my wolf, and I think I might have been glowing again. did that mean I used magic or was that just my wolf?

The magic had spoken to me again just before I scratched Daisy… so maybe it was a bit of both.

Daisy raised her hand and touched the claw marks on her neck; her fingers trembled. I thought she was going to start crying or screaming again, but she didn’t. She looked eerily calm as I knelt beside her, trying to look and see how much damage there was to her neck.

Her fingers were covering the markings so that I couldn’t get a good look.

“Daisy, let me see,” I said, trying to pull her hand away.

Her entire body was stiff as she processed what had happened. She lifted her head, her eyes finding Noah, who was lying on the ground, groaning in pain, and then her eyes flickered around the crowd, who were staring at everything happening in front of them with open mouths and shock clear on their faces.

Daisy pulled her hand away, and I froze entirely; she was completely healed. There was no trace of my claw marks on her… but not only that… her mating mark was also gone.

“Holy shit,” I gasped.

“I’m free,” she whispered hoarsely, “I’m finally free. The bond is broken.”

She let out a choked laugh, tears pooling in her eyes, her entire body trembling.

“It’s time for us to leave,” Gavin said, placing the palm of his hand on my lower back.

I looked down at Daisy, who was still seated on the ground, her body trembling and laughing, bubbling out of her in an almost hysterical state.

“I’m actually free,” she kept whispering.

“We should help her,” I said, my eyes not moving away from her.

“You’ve helped her enough. Daisy’s an adult and can figure things out from here. She’s free from him. She can go anywhere,” Gavin told me, his voice lowering. The compassion hidden in his tone was enough to make me pause and look at him. I saw the sincere look in his eyes and a slight smile that lifted the corner of his lips. “You did well,” he added softly, making my heart swell.

I stared down at my hands; they were powerful, and I had no idea how to use this magic, but I somehow managed to break the bond between Daisy and Noah.

“Why?” Noah gritted out, his eyes blazing with fury. He was no longer gripping his chest, but he was still lying on the ground, his face pale. “Why would you help her? After everything she’s done to you. After she stole the Moon Gem, she tried to get close to Gavin Landry. For years, she’s been nothing but a bitch to you, and you still help her?”

I pressed my lips firmly together, ignoring Gavn’s persistence that we leave.

“Because whether I like it or not, Daisy is Pack. I protect my own,” I told him, my eyes narrowed.

Daisy stood there, staring at me, her eyes wide, and others started to murmur around me.

“What the fuck is going on here?” Lila asked as she shoved her way through the crowd. “Why is everybody standing out here when they should be enjoying my party?”

“Judy just protected Daisy Baldwin from your crazy brother. Apparently, he marked her without her consent and has been toying with her for a while. Did you know about this?” One of the girls in the crowd asked, raising her brows at Lila.

Lila’s cheeks reddened, and she pressed her lips together as she faced Noah and Daisy,

“Of course not,” Lila lied, folding her arms across her chest. “I would never allow such a thing to happen under my nose like that. Daisy is a good friend of mine, and she would have told me if something like that were happening. Right, Daisy?”

She gave Daisy a pointed look; Lila didn’t notice that her mark was now gone, so Noah no longer had control over Daisy.

She reached up and touched the smooth part of her neck, a small smile ghosting her lips. I knew what she was thinking even when she didn’t say it out loud this time.

She was free.

“Your brother has been nothing but nasty to me,” Daisy said once she found her voice. “He marked me without my consent and had been using me to mess with Gavin and his family for years. I don’t want any part of this anymore. My ties with the Blackwells are over. You took too much of me, and I know I can’t get those pieces back, but I’m going to try and rebuild myself without your influence.”

Gasps erupted everywhere, and I had a sense of pride that Daisy was standing up for herself against those who had bullied her for all these years. It was inspirational, and I hoped it spoke volumes to others around us.

“I have no idea what you are talking about,” Lila said, her eyes narrowing. “We’ve been friends forever. Why wouldn’t you tell me that my brother was doing this to you?”

“I have,” Daisy said, stepping closer to her. “You’ve helped him torment me, Lila. We aren’t friends… you’re a psychopath and not fit to be a Luna. You’ve been lying to everyone. You only want control. You’re upset because the Moon Gem didn’t work for you, and now there’s proof that you aren’t the powerful one. Judy was the one who broke the bond between Noah and me, and everybody saw it.”

Lila’s face went pale as she turned to look at everyone. Olivia and her friends had just arrived too, and they were looking around curiously, frowning.

“I’m not sure what happened here, but it was a lie set out to make me look bad,” Lila said, turning to face Daisy again. “You are making this up, and it’s best if you shut the fuck up.”

“I’m not the one making things up. That billion-dollar check isn’t real. Your parents cut you off, so you are desperate for money,” Daisy hissed, making everyone gasp. Lila’s face paled, but she wasn’t backing down.

“Shut up! You are lying,” Lila growled, her eyes flashing to Noah, who was still recovering and simmering with anger.

Daisy let out a dark laugh as she pointed at her neck.

“The mark your brother left on me is gone. He no longer influences me.”

“Try again,” Noah growled as he lunged at her, making her eyes go wide.

It happened so fast that Gavin didn’t have enough time to grab me and pull me away. I was already in front of Daisy, my hands out, just as Noah’s canines were outstretched, and I was seconds away from biting her again. Suddenly, he completely stopped and then bounced
