Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 468

Julian stared down at her, his eyes cold and unreadable. “You really think I’ll fall for that?”

Helene’s whole body trembled. Tears welled up, threatening to spill as her face crumpled with disbelief. She looked shattered, like she’d break apart if he pushed just a little harder.

“I’m not lying to you, Julian. I swear, please, just trust me this once. I have no reason to lie to you. This time, I’m telling the truth...” Her voice shook with desperation. She hated herself for not having any proof, for not being able to show him she was telling the truth.

She raised her hand, three fingers in the air. “I swear on my life, it was Madeline. If I’m lying, you don’t have to do anything. I’ll kill myself. Is that enough?”

Helene’s eyes locked on his, pleading for him to believe her. Madeline had finally slipped up, and not just a little. This was her chance to make Madeline pay, to make her feel all the pain she’d gone through.

“Julian, if you don’t believe me, just wait until Mrs. Grayson wakes up. Ask her yourself. I wouldn’t say all this if it wasn’t true, would I?”

But Julian’s expression never softened. He shook her hand from his arm, his voice colder than ever. “She would never do that. You, on the other hand... I told you to get treatment. Why did you leave? Why did you go there and start trouble?”

“I...” Helene faltered, her mind blank.

“You’re trying to blame her, aren’t you? Do you think we’re all idiots? Security footage shows it was you who took my mother. Madeline was trying to save her. Now you want to say Madeline’s the one who hurt her? Did you even think this through before you started lying?”

Julian’s words cut like glass. He didn’t hold back at all.

“Yes, I took Mrs. Grayson. I admit it. But Madeline was the one who stabbed her, I swear. I’m not making this up, Julian, I’m really not.” Helene’s grip tightened on his hand. She was shaking so hard she could barely stand.

Julian yanked his hand free. “Helene, I don’t believe a single word you say.”

Helene pressed a hand to her chest, sobbing like her whole world was falling apart. What did she have to do to make anyone believe her?

She screamed, her voice raw and wild. “It was her! Why can’t you just trust me for once? What’s so amazing about her that you’d believe anything she says?”

She was losing it, yelling at everyone around her. The reporters caught all of it, recording her twisted, desperate face for the world to see.

Her parents rushed through the crowd. They barely recognized their daughter like this, screaming and falling apart. Gone was the calm, perfect young lady—Helene looked like someone on the edge.

With cameras everywhere, Mrs. Fortner wrapped her arms around her. “Helene, please, calm down. Just breathe.”

But Helene couldn’t. She needed Julian to believe her more than anything.

Christian’s voice rang out. “That’s enough. All of you, quiet.”
