Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 479

Julian carried Madeline into the room and gently set her down. Without missing a beat, he started helping her out of her wet clothes.

Madeline caught his hands, pulling the hem of her shirt down in a hurry. “I can do it myself. You should go outside.”

Julian looked down at her. The way she stared at him, it was like she thought he was some kind of threat. She was suspicious, guarded. He couldn’t help but sigh. Clearly, in her mind, he was nothing but trouble now.

He stepped back and nodded, a little defeated. “Alright. I’ll be right outside. Just call if you need anything.”

Madeline pressed her lips together and nodded. “Okay.”

Before leaving, Julian turned up the heat in the room and quietly closed the door behind him.

Her clothes were drenched with seawater and clung to her skin, making her feel sticky and uncomfortable. She slipped off Julian’s coat and tossed it onto the bed. As she lifted her arm, she noticed a faint smear of red on her hand.

Blood.

Her heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t hurt, so it had to be Julian’s. She picked up the coat, inspecting it carefully until she found a rip on the sleeve. When she touched the torn fabric, her fingers came away red.

Madeline frowned, glancing at the door. The memory hit her. That man had fired a shot at her, and Julian had pulled her onto the boat just in time. The bullet must have grazed his arm.

She tightened her grip on the coat.

Outside, Julian leaned against the wall, tall and tense. His head was bowed. A cigarette glowed between his fingers, lighting up the shadows around him.

“Boss.” Miles walked up quietly.

“What is it?”
