Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 532

After the call ended, he glanced at his phone, switched off the screen, and turned his attention to the woman beside him.

Their eyes met unexpectedly. Or maybe it was more accurate to say Madeline had been staring at him and got caught right in the act.

Julian raised an eyebrow. “What are you looking at?”

Madeline felt a little awkward under his steady gaze. She quickly looked away.

“It’s nothing. If you’re busy, you don’t have to come with me, you know.”

Julian reached for her hand, his palm warm and reassuring. “Nothing’s more important than you.”

Madeline’s eyes sparkled, but she stayed quiet.

The Ballard estate waited ahead.

Julian’s car rolled to a stop in front of the massive gates. Just before getting out, he took another call, telling Madeline to head in first.

It had only been a few days since Madeline last set foot here, but the grand, solemn atmosphere of the Ballard estate still felt overwhelming.

She followed the staff member who came to greet her into the main hall. She’d barely taken a few steps when a familiar voice rang out from the staircase above.

“What are you doing here?”

Madeline arched an eyebrow and looked up, her gaze locking with the woman standing on the landing.

The moment their eyes met, the tension was almost electric.

Madeline offered a small, cool smile. What a coincidence. Meeting again so soon.

After a few seconds of silent challenge, the woman started down the stairs, chin lifted, eyes sweeping over Madeline from head to toe.

Madeline couldn’t help but stare. The woman’s face was almost identical to hers. Seeing her own features on someone else felt so wrong, like something personal had been stolen from her.
