Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 592

Julian looked down at Madeline, his eyes soft and full of affection. “I’m sorry. This is my fault. I shouldn’t have rushed you. If you really are pregnant, we’ll keep the baby.”

Madeline’s face stiffened. She pushed him away, a bitter smile curling on her lips. “You make it sound so easy. Just have the baby, like it’s nothing. But what are we, Julian? What are we to each other?”

Julian caught her hand, holding it firmly. His voice was steady and sincere. “If you want it, the title of Mrs. Grayson will always be yours.”

As soon as he said it, Julian’s mind drifted back to Helene’s words.

‘Madeline’s mother killed your father. There’s a blood debt between you two.’

His chest tightened. He couldn’t pretend Helene’s words hadn’t gotten to him. The way his grandfather had always acted already proved it. Julian had always been confused. Christian used to be so fond of Madeline, but something just changed. Suddenly, he couldn’t stand her. Even after she gave the Grayson family two children, he still refused to accept her.

Thinking about it, the only explanation left was what Helene had said. Maybe his grandfather knew the truth and held a grudge. Maybe that’s why he hated Madeline and tried to keep them apart. Julian still couldn’t be sure if it was true, but now it gnawed at him, a knot he couldn’t untangle. Every time he thought about it, he felt restless.

Madeline didn’t respond. Right then, there were two knocks at the door. Miles stood outside. “Sir.”

He didn’t say anything else, just called out quietly.

“You should go. There’s something you need to take care of,” Madeline said.

Julian frowned, then gently pulled the blanket up around her shoulders. “Alright. Get some rest. I’ll be back soon.”

She had guessed it would be him, but seeing Julian in person still made her heart pound with fear.

“Mr. Grayson? So it really is you. What are you planning to do with me?” Claire tried to sound calm, but her voice trembled and gave her away.

Julian stepped closer, his stare icy and sharp. Miles pulled over a chair for him. Julian sat down, crossed his legs, and leaned back. His handsome face was unreadable, cold as stone. Just sitting there, he was intimidating enough to make anyone uneasy. There was none of the warmth he showed Madeline. Only a chill that cut straight to the bone.

“Mr. Grayson, what is it you want? I’m officially recognized as Ms. Ballard by the Ballard family. If you kidnap me, you’ll be making enemies with them.” Claire struggled, her strength fading. The wound on her back had reopened, blood staining her clothes.

“You told Helene that Shelly killed my father, didn’t you?” Julian’s voice was cold, each word landing like a blow.
