Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 715

Madeline glanced over at the police, her eyes full of confusion. As she looked away, she caught sight of her two kids sneaking peeks from inside the room, their faces lit up with mischievous grins.

She couldn’t help but smirk. Those were her little rascals, always a step ahead, handling things just the way she would have.

“You called the police?” Julian’s tone was sharp, his brows drawn together.

She didn’t bother answering him. Instead, she called down to the officers below, “Officers, I’m the one who called you.”

The police quickly made their way upstairs. Madeline pointed at the woman sprawled on the floor. “This woman broke in and tried to steal from me. I’ve already restrained her. Please take her away.”

The officers shot a quick glance at Alianna lying on the ground, then looked away, clearly uncomfortable.

Catching Madeline’s eye, the housekeeper understood immediately and went to adjust Alianna’s dress, covering her up properly.

Alianna struggled up, her movements shaky. When she saw the police, she latched onto one of their arms. “You got here just in time,” she cried, her voice trembling. “She broke into the house and tried to kill me... she pushed me down the stairs…”

The officers took in Alianna’s disheveled state and then turned to Madeline, clearly torn between the two stories. The lead officer finally asked, “Did you push her?”

“I did,” Madeline replied without hesitation. “She tried to steal my things. Was I supposed to just let her take them?”

“I didn’t steal anything!” Alianna sobbed, her eyes red and swollen. “She’s lying! Everyone saw—she pushed me down the stairs in front of everyone. Please, you have to help me. Julian, help me! She forced her way into your home and shoved me. Julian, you were right there. You saw it all…”

Madeline just scoffed, saying nothing, her eyes fixed on Alianna’s performance.

The officer hesitated, looking to Julian for clarification. “Mr. Grayson, is what she’s saying true?”

Julian’s jaw was tight, his lips pressed together in a hard line. “Yes.”

“See, officers? You can trust me,” Alianna said, sobbing even harder, looking every bit the tragic victim.
