When My Ex's Worst Enemy Became My Sanctuary novel Chapter 343

Walton glanced at his phone, the corners of his mouth twitching with a hint of a smile he tried to hide.

He looked up and said, “Dorothea, your mom’s sick. I was hoping you could lend me a little money to help us get by.”

“I know you and your mom don’t get along, and you’ve cut ties, but she’s still your mother. She has lung cancer. You’re pregnant now, so no one expects you to take care of her, but she needs money for chemo.”

Dorothea didn’t hesitate. She figured he was making it all up. “I don’t have any money. If she really has cancer and needs help, she can bring the medical records herself.”

“She’s still your mom,” Walton sighed, trying to sound pitiful.

Dorothea rolled her eyes. “Don’t even think about scamming me. I’m not giving you a penny. Linda, please show him out.”

Walton started to panic. He reached out and grabbed Dorothea’s arm. “Dorothea, are you really this cold?”

He lowered his voice, trying to make it sound even more urgent. “You’re literally on a show right now. You’re not broke. This money could save your mother’s life.”

Dorothea’s gaze dropped to where his hand gripped her arm. “Let go of me, or I’m calling the police.”

Walton kept pushing. “It’s not even that much. Just five hundred thousand to start. If your mom was able to get up and ask herself, I wouldn’t be here.”

He thought Dorothea wouldn't turn him down in front of so many people watching the live stream.

But Dorothea just laughed. “Really? Got any proof? Pictures, videos? I don’t believe a word you say.”

“That’s enough. Show him out.”

She shook off his hand and headed upstairs without looking back.

Walton’s eyes turned red as he looked at Linda. “Dorothea’s so heartless. Her mom is coughing up blood, and she still won’t help. How is her mom even supposed to come here like this?”

“Forget it. I’ll go.”

He slumped his shoulders and shuffled out of the house.
