Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 148

I just got off the phone and my dad came back.

He happened to see the agreement in my hand, so he asked a few questions and I filled him in on the situation.

Every time we talked about Neil, my dad's face would turn stern. He took the agreement, skimmed through it, and snorted, "Yeah, he's really generous in this respect, but unfortunately, this is the only area where he acts like a human being."

I didn't know how to respond to him.

"Rena, you make your own decisions. We have no problem supporting you. Even if you remarry, your mom and I can handle it. We're not after the money, we're after dignity. Whether you take the money you deserve or you show your dignity by not taking it, I understand either way."

Dad said it with passion.

He's always been a tough guy who values dignity and never bows down for money. He didn't even want to run the family business.

But my mom's family owns a company that's been running for generations. When she married my dad, she was already running a medium-sized company with great potential. The business couldn't just stop because she got married.

So the company has been running ever since and it's booming.

Even Harold and the others were initiated into the business by my mom, although they later chose the overseas market.

"Alright, I'll tell Neil. I'll keep the agreement for now. I need to think it over." I nodded.

"Right, you should consider it carefully. I worry that people will think we, the Finch family, took a lot of money from him, that we're greedy and causing trouble. People are unpredictable!" My dad sighed deeply.

My mom called us for dinner after she finished cooking. My dad was free to come home for lunch today, so the meal was abundant.

Looking at my parents' white hair and smelling the aroma of the food in the air, I felt a little dazed. Why can't I go back to when I was seventeen? That year I fell head over heels for Neil.

At that time, my parents were still young, I was a young girl, and everything could start over.

After the meal, my dad went to work, my mom went out to enjoy her night life with friends, and I lay on the couch watching TV shows.

I fell asleep without even realizing it and woke up in the evening.

There were two or three missed calls on my phone, all from Oscar.

I didn't answer, so he texted me: [Irene, I know a great place where you can relax. Want to give it a try?]

Ever since Oscar found out I was back, he's been contacting me almost every day. We've both tacitly avoided mentioning that hug he gave me.

I texted back: [Sure, send me the address.]

Oscar must have been waiting for my reply because he texted back quickly. After I got the address, I told my mom I was going out.

Oscar was already waiting for me by the road. When he saw me, his eyes lit up and he walked over, "Irene, hi."

"Hi, where's this great place you know?" I asked with a smile.

He scratched his head awkwardly, "We need to walk a bit, there's no bus that goes there."

"Then let's walk." I answered.

As Oscar led me along, we chatted casually, but I had a feeling that something was off.

Sure enough, not long after, we arrived at the Wellness Oasis, a high-class health club owned by Neil.

The prices here are sky-high. If he's really taking me here, I'm afraid I'll blow a few months' salary.
