Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 528

"Relax, Hiram will be fine." Neil's voice echoed from the entrance, indicating his arrival. Behind him, two nannies trailed - undoubtedly the new hires he'd made.

Seeing Neil, a wave of relief washed over me. He could handle this problem now.

Whispering something to the nannies, he sent them into the kitchen before making his way over to us. He took a seat on the other side of the couch.

"You think I'm a fool, Neil? If it was a minor issue, would Karina have said those things?" Faith wasn't naive. She knew the situation was serious; it's just that no one wanted to break the news to her.

"Hiram's health is a bit fragile, so we're all a bit on edge. But as I said, you just need to rest and keep your spirits up." Neil's tone was perfectly calm, betraying no signs of concern.

Faith knew her son all too well. If he didn't want to talk about something, there was no point in pressing him further. So, she dropped the subject.

Despite his return, Neil was still busy. After a few minutes, he excused himself and headed upstairs to his study, leaving Faith and me alone in the living room.

Just as lunch was about to be served, Ryan finally made an appearance.

He seemed taken aback upon seeing Faith and me, offering me an awkward smile. Faith, on the other hand, stood up and made to leave, her face stone cold.

"Where are you going?" Ryan immediately rushed over to stop Faith. "Can't you even stand to look at me anymore?"

"Let go!" Faith snapped, shaking off Ryan's hand. "Why are you even here? You should've been with that woman from the start, break the class barriers, right? I was wondering who Neil was following, turns out it's you. Like father, like son!"

I was dumbfounded, and it seemed like Neil had been caught in the crossfire.

Again, Ryan tried to stop Faith, but after a glance at me, he let his hand fall. They were both grown adults; arguing in front of others would be inappropriate. Understanding the situation, I quickly excused myself and retreated upstairs, leaving the two of them alone.

The upper floor was mostly bedrooms. Unsure of where to go, I decided to stay in the hallway and occupied myself with my phone.

When I heard a door opening behind me, I turned to see Neil stepping out of his room, freshly showered and smelling delightful.

Neil looked surprised to find me in the corridor. "What are you doing up here?"

"Your dad's back," I replied, figuring Neil would catch on quickly.

"Didn't my mom come up?" As I'd expected, Neil guessed his mother's reaction.

I shook my head. "No, she was stopped by your dad."

Neil nodded but made no move to go downstairs. He buttoned up his shirt, lending him a serious, almost austere look.

Suddenly, he headed upstairs towards the third floor. The layout was similar to Sterling Estates, including a study on the third floor that Ryan usually used but Neil occasionally occupied.
