"I've told you, I'm in charge of Hiram's condition. Your so-called medical team is no match for me, and you know that!" Karina was still visibly upset. Her opposition to Neil's arrangements for Hiram's treatment and surgery was extraordinarily strong.
Even if she was confident in her ability to cure Hiram, she shouldn't be so resistant to Neil's arrangements. It was just another treatment option. After all, Neil is Hiram's father; he surely wouldn't want to harm his own son.
Given Neil's resources, the medical team he assembled would undoubtedly be top-notch. There should be no concerns.
"If I can't find a suitable match before the surgery, or if there are other complications that make me think it won't work, I'll hand Hiram over to you for treatment." In stark contrast to Karina's agitation, Neil's demeanor was overly calm. He seemed distant, like a stranger.
"No way, I absolutely won't agree. That's taking a risk with Hiram's illness!" Karina declared firmly. "If you insist on doing this, then I'll take matters into my own hands, take the kid away, and you'll never see us again for the rest of your life!"
With that, she hung up the phone.
Neither Neil nor I knew what she would do, but she was no pushover. With Russel and Louis on her side, she had quite a few tricks up her sleeve.
After Neil hung up the phone, he immediately made another call, instructing those responsible for transporting and taking care of Hiram to be cautious. They were not to let Hiram be taken away by anyone and to arrange a hospital check-up as soon as they arrived.
After that, I felt the car speed up significantly. Neil naturally wanted to get back to Rosemont as soon as possible, in case Karina really came up with a way to take Hiram away.
---
When we got back to Rosemont, it was already late. Neil went straight to the hospital. I didn't know why, but I felt uneasy and followed him to Hiram's ward.
There were quite a few people in the ward. Apart from the people Neil had arranged to look after Hiram, there were also several people who looked like doctors, probably the medical team he had arranged.
"Mr. Whitmore, you're here."
Someone greeted Neil. He went over and looked at Hiram lying on the bed, then started to listen to the doctors talking about Hiram's condition. I listened for a while in the crowd, then quietly slipped out.
There was no need for me here, so I decided to go back to Stella's place.
To my surprise, as soon as I reached the entrance of the hospital, I saw Dylan. He was looking around as if he was searching for something.
When he saw me at the hospital, he was stunned, then quickly came over and asked me in fluent but slightly accented Mandarin, "Ms. Finch, what are you doing here? Is Dr. Karina here too?"
"How come...?" I was surprised too. Was Dylan planning to search every hospital?
"I heard that Dr. Karina used to stay in this city, so I rushed over to find her. Do you know if she's in this hospital now?" Dylan looked at the hospital entrance, his words full of anxiety.
Karina doesn't work at this hospital, but she would find this hospital because Hiram was here.
Although I thought of this, I never expected Karina to be so fast. As soon as Dylan finished speaking, a car stopped not far away, and Karina got out and hurried towards us.
Instinctively, I wanted to divert Dylan, not to let him see Karina. Otherwise, they would have to deal with their issues themselves, and I wouldn't be able to pry into their secrets.
