Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 668

Kitty ended the call, and I found myself holding onto my phone, unable to let it go for a long time.

---

Ryan and Faith arrived that very night on their private jet. As parents to an only child, their concern was palpable, especially with their son in such a state.

I remained by Neil's side, and upon seeing me, Faith managed a strained smile before approaching the hospital bed. The sight of Neil, unconscious and vulnerable, filled her eyes with sorrow. Suddenly, she turned to me, "Oh, by the way, where's Kitty?"

"Kitty," a nickname for Kitty, I replied, "She... left Eldoria."

Faith seemed to ponder for a moment before nodding, accepting Kitty's departure without question. She simply held Neil's hand, her expression a mix of helplessness and grief.

I took it upon myself to update them on Neil's condition. They listened, their reactions reserved and muted.

"Irene, can we talk outside?" Faith asked after a while.

I nodded, following her out of the room.

Outside, Faith dabbed at her eyes gently before offering me a smile that felt all too familiar, as if nothing had changed.

"How about Serena and the kids?" she inquired.

"They're still in Eldoria," I responded. It was quite late, and my parents were probably resting at Russel's place with them.

A spark of excitement lit up Faith's eyes. She had been longing to be a grandmother, and although life had its twists and turns, she was finally aware of her grandchildren's existence. Yet, the situation with Neil had prevented her from meeting them for over a year.

The little ones were now quite energetic, although prone to the occasional tumble. Their speech development seemed a bit delayed. Despite being able to say "mom" and "dad" quite early, their vocabulary was limited. My mom reassured me that "late bloomers often turn out to be exceptional," and after some tests that showed no issues, I chose to believe her.

I showed Faith some videos and photos of the kids on my phone. She couldn't hide her joy, watching the lively antics of her grandchildren with a loving gaze.

"I heard about you and Russel planning to get married. Congratulations," Faith mentioned after handing back my phone, her smile fading slightly.

"The wedding's been called off," I admitted honestly. Given Neil's condition, I didn't see the point in hiding it from Faith.
