The Alpha's Complicated Destiny novel Chapter 7

"Wow, she's really beautiful."

"Don't be insecure, babe."

"I'm not insecure," Gia, Alaric's mate, scoffed. "She looks exquisite to the point that I might ghost you and marry her instead. I could be a great husband rather than a luna."

I irritatedly turned to Gia. I know that she wasn't serious about it but is it really necessary to say that?Alaric was also offended when he heard what Gia said judging by how his mouth dropped. I clenched my jaw. I need to get away from this event. Ash is getting wild and I'm already having a hard time controlling myself. My mate is a vampire princess and I'm not that dumb not to notice that she was Reehan's younger sister.

"Is there something wrong? You're sweating buckets," Lorcan pointed out while glancing at me.

I cleared my throat and nod impatiently. The more I look at my mate, the more I crave for her presence. "I need some fresh air."

"Woah! The event is about to start. We are not allowed to go outside until 12am."

I snorted. "You think I can't escape from here?"

"Don't even try, Alpha Caiden. You are not here to embarrass yourself, aren't you? Leaving and excusing yourself right after the king's arrival? Really?" Leon scoffed.

I pursed my lips to prevent myself from cursing. They are smart and they might notice the reason why am I acting like a jerk if I continue to insist.

"Why is he chilling there and why is the program not starting yet?" Alaric asked with furrowed brows.

I followed his line of sight and I saw Reehan comfortably sitting on his chair. My lips parted when I noticed the walking vegetable from earlier sitting beside my mate. What the hell is he doing there? Is it really true that he's going to marry her? Hah!

"I've never been insecure in my whole life," Ash muttered which made me groaned. I have heard some small things about a werewolf being mated with a vampire but I never heard about their successful relationship. All of their love story ended tragically and I wasn't clearly interested about those shits...before.

I unconsciously lick my lower lip as I stared at my mate. She probably doesn't recognize the mate bond yet. It may take a very very long time since she's a vampire. Maybe a month? a year? a whole decade? I don't know. Should I keep this as a secret? Will they accept her as my luna? She looks like an angel. I can't bear seeing her getting hated by my own pack. Wait, no. I need her and I shouldn't hesitate.

But she's a vampire. A royalty at that. How could I lure her in my territory if she's heavily guarded by her freaking brother?

I frustratedly ran my fingers through my hair. "Should I break the-"

"Good evening, everyone. Sorry to keep you waiting but I think I just arrived perfectly in time, right? For those who may not know, I am King Reehan Huxley of Iterra Ideron and it is my pleasure to have you in my palace," Reehan said with a hint of sarcasm.

I almost laugh if it wasn't for Lorcan who gave me a glare. Reehan continued to speak in front and his sister seems to be proud. Oh please, he didn't even bother to hide the fact that he dislike us. Well, the feeling is mutual.

After he finished everything that he has to say, waiters came to cater us. I'm not in the mood to eat. I just keep on glancing at my mate who's probably not aware of my presence. Compared to Aria, she's tall. Long legs but short torso. She has an almond shape eyes and a seductive smile. Her skin looks pale and delicate too. Why does she look so fvcking perfect in my eyes?

I was shamelessly studying her appearance when a low growl vibrated from my chest as I could feel Ash wanting to force his way out. I told him to calm his ass down but he was really eager to embrace our mate.

"This is not the right time, Ash."

"Caiden, we've been looking for her since who knows when. Why are you acting like a coward now that we've found her?"

"She's a vampire."
