The Billionaire and His PA novel Chapter 55

“Cassie!” Lily exclaimed as she looked up from the puzzle that she had been working on with Amanda. The puzzle pieces were laid out on a tray that Lily and Amanda had sweet talked a nurse into getting for them. “We’re almost done with our puzzle. I think it’s a cat.”

“That’s wonderful news.” Cassie said. “I’m glad that you’re doing all right now. You had everyone so worried. And thank you for staying with her Amanda. You have no idea how much it means to me.” She said.

“You don’t have to thank me.” Amanda said subdued yawn. “I better start heading home right now. Timothy won’t stop texting me about his stupid socks. I keep telling him that if he puts one sock into the other the moment it’s out of the dryer, he’s not going to have that much trouble finding the second sock.” She groaned. She picked up her bag, ruffled Lily’s hair, kissed Cassie on the cheek and made her way back home to help her husband find his other sock.

Cassie kicked off her shoes and climbed into Lily’s bed. “So let’s see how long it takes us to finish up with this puzzle.” It took them more than an hour to assemble the puzzle as it had about a thousand tiny pieces and someone had drawn over its box with crayons, obscuring what the final image should look like. After a few more hours of generally goofing around, one of the doctors came into the room, checked Lily’s vitals and declared that she was fit enough to go back home.

Lily was ecstatic to head back home and made a show of it by dragging Cassie along the hallway to hurry her along the process of getting out of the pediatric center. The entire train ride back home and the very quick stop at the mall, Lily continued to tug at Cassie’s hand to hurry her up.

“I’m back!” Lily screeched the moment she walked in through the front door. She flung herself beside Aaron who had made himself comfortable in front of the television.

“Take it easy, Lily. Remember that you just got out of the hospital.” Cassie warned. Then she turned to Isabel. “How was your day with Aaron?”

“It was wonderful. He woke up a couple of minutes before afternoon and then he had a shower. But he didn’t want the leftovers so I made him some oatmeal with raisins. He did like thirty percent of his homework before he started watching television.” Isabel said.

“Thanks for watching him. I have good news for you.” Cassie said as she started to arrange the groceries that she had bought. “So I got in touch with a lawyer about Robert’s court case.”

Isabel stopped what she was doing and turned to give Cassie her full attention. “And what did the lawyer say?”
