Nathan noticed she had stopped asking, so he left the room.
After about an hour, Isaac and the doctor came in.
"Ms. Joie, we've discussed it and plan to operate at the end of the month, so you need to take care of yourself until then."
Tears welled up in Joie's eyes. "Thank you, doctor, thank you, Bro Isaac."
Isaac had always been cold, but having gone through tough times with Joie, he had a soft spot for her.
After the doctor had given her some advice, he left.
Joie couldn't hide her emotions and cried her heart out. It took a while for her to stop. Isaac handed her some tissue, "Don't cry. Once you've recovered, I'll arrange the best life for you."
Joie had had a tough life for years, living hand to mouth, and her education had been neglected.
"Do you want to go to school? If so, you can choose any school in Imperial City."
Joie wasn't particularly interested in school, but she knew that rich boys liked delicate girls, so she wiped away her tears and said, "Bro Isaac, if I go to school now, will I be a burden to you?"
"It's okay, just pick any school once you're recovered," Isaac promised. "Whether you want to stay in Imperial City or abroad, it's all good."
He sat at the side of her bed, seemingly thanking her, "You helped me back in the day. Now that I can, I should give you the best life."
Joie's hand, holding the tissue, stopped abruptly as if she'd been struck a blow. She bit her lip, her eyes a bit unnatural.
Isaac didn't notice her reaction. He glanced at the time, "I'll be busy these days. Contact Nathan if you need anything. Rest well."
His words implied that he might not come before the surgery.
Joie was panicked. What would she do if he didn't come?
"Bro Isaac, but I'm scared. I'm alone in the hospital..." Joie's eyes welled up with tears again.
Isaac never liked it when people cried, except for Brittany.
He paused, "Nathan and the nurses will take good care of you."
Joie noticed the impatience in his eyes and didn't dare to push any further. She obediently said, "Goodbye."
After Isaac left the hospital, Nathan drove him back to his apartment.
"Keep an eye on the hospital situation."
