The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 284

Leda seemed oblivious to Marcel's displeasure, "It's me."

"Marcel, I'm doing this for your own good. If the Andersons decide to use this as leverage against us, wouldn't we be sitting ducks? Besides, I just wanted to see if Zella's body can handle the strain of childbirth."

Marcel bowed his head, a flicker of anger in his eyes.

He could ignore Zella, but the child in Zella's belly was his.

Watching Marcel's silence, Leda realized she might've overstepped, "Let's just call it quits on this. You need to rest up, and the baby will come when it's ready."

After Leda left, Marcel slammed his fist on the armrest of his wheelchair. His rage was palpable.

...

Brittany waited up until midnight, and finally, Isaac came home.

He looked beat. Brittany helped him out of his suit jacket and wrapped her arms around his waist, "Zakky, what's wrong? You look like death warmed over."

Isaac's pent-up rage erupted. He picked her up and pinned her against the door; his domineering presence filled the room.

Brittany was powerless against him.

Isaac had always been assertive but gentle.

But today, he was unusually irritable, disregarding any finesse, wanting only to vent or perhaps prove that Brittany was his.

Moonlight bathed every inch of the living room.

When it was all over, Isaac carried her to their bedroom. Seeing her flushed face and the beads of sweat on her forehead, he felt a pang of guilt.

He bent over to wipe her sweat, but Brittany grabbed his hand, "What's wrong?"

She had been tossed around for hours and was exhausted.

But she felt something was off with Isaac and fought off sleep to stay with him.

Isaac turned his hand around to hold her wrist, "If I lied to you, would you forgive me?"

Brittany frowned, "Depends on what it is. If it's a small matter, an apology from you would do. If it's a matter of principle..."

She didn't finish her sentence, but they both knew what she meant.

Brittany was a very resolute person. Isaac knew this well.

Seeing him quiet, Brittany began to worry, "What is it?"

Isaac shook his head, climbed into bed, and pulled her into his arms, "Nothing, I just had a flashback..."
