The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 286

Brittany peered at her watch and then led the lawyer upstairs.

This was his first time at Brittany's place and he couldn’t believe that the Dustin family’s little princess was living in such a place.

It was a tiny two-bedroom apartment, way too small for his liking.

There wasn’t even a study room.

Suppressing his disappointment, he took a seat. Brittany poured him a drink, “Is the transfer procedure done?”

“It’s done.”

The lawyer nodded, “The current situation of the Dustin Group is quite dicey. Now that you’re in charge, the top priority is to secure a substantial cash flow.”

The Dustin family was not just in the jewelry business. They had other industries as well, all of them now in crisis with not a single penny to spare.

Brittany reached out, rubbing her brows, “Leave the documents. I’ll head to the Dustin Group next Monday.”

Just before the lawyer left, he glanced at Brittany as if he wanted to say something but held back.

"Mr. Carrol, is there anything else?"

Brittany noticed his hesitation.

"Ms. Dustin, if you hadn’t donated that money..." Mr. Carrol seemed to imply that if she hadn’t donated, the Dustin Group might still have had a chance to restart.

"What’s done is done. No point in dwelling on it now."

Brittany shook her head, "I’ve already made the donation."

She paused, then looked at Mr. Carrol, "Mr. Carrol, you used to work with my mom. Did she ever mention the Russell family?"

Robert had said on his deathbed that Julie Russell-Dustin was not a daughter of the Russell family.

Mr. Carrol was an old hand, and he had worked for Julie before. Maybe he knew some useful clues.

"Ms. Russell rarely mentioned the Russell family, but I’ve heard that when she married Mr. Dustin, it wasn’t by her volition."

"Not by her volition?"

That was totally opposite to what Brittany knew.

Ever since she was born, everyone said that Julie fell out with the Russell family, even hurting their feelings, just to marry Robert.

Mr. Carrol understood Brittany’s doubts. He sighed, "In reality, I’ve always felt that Ms. Russell didn’t really care for Robert. It seemed like she considered this marriage as a business deal."

Julie was the most composed and smartest woman he had ever met.
