Isaac didn't want anyone to pry into his itinerary.
His eyes flickered for a moment, then he turned and went upstairs.
Joie never expected her plan to go awry, nor did she dare to feel downhearted. She followed the butler out of Salter Manor.
It was only when she got home that Joie realized her plan had bombed.
"What an unromantic man!"
She really couldn't figure out how Brittany got close to him!
...
Isaac went upstairs and saw Grace, who should have been taking a nap, sitting in the study.
"Granny, aren't you supposed to be napping?"
Grace just huffed, "We've depended on each other for many years, don't you know my habits?"
It was a mere excuse.
She just didn't want to chat with Joie anymore.
"Are you not happy with her?"
Isaac walked into the study and casually closed the door.
"The girl's alright, just a bit timid."
Grace appreciated those who were dignified, brave, thoughtful, kind, and innocent.
Clearly, Joie appeared modest, but she was actually quite cunning.
At the dining table, Joie's every move couldn't escape Grace's sharp eyes.
Her feelings towards Joie were not of fondness, but she didn't dislike her either.
Isaac sat down across from her, "She grew up in an orphanage and has suffered a lot. She'll learn slowly."
"You deal with this."
"Keep a certain distance from her." Grace said seriously, "People are unpredictable, who knows if she has any designs on you?"
It wasn't that she was being narcissistic, it was just that her grandson was too excellent.
Even though he was already married, countless socialites and wealthy individuals still flocked to him, let alone a little girl from an orphanage who he had brought back and was taking care of.
If anything went wrong...
