The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 114

The weekend was just around the corner.

Cordelia purchased some ingredients, preparing for Deanna's visit. She knew this was going to be a challenge. When Deanna arrived, Cordelia was cooking in the kitchen with Janice.

Deanna first asked about Barney's health, and then she started chit-chatting with Ronan.

Ronan was sitting on the couch, looking spaced out.

Cordelia cooked a lot of dishes. She thought that even though Deanna wasn't likable, her father had once saved Ronan's life, so she should try her best to be a good host.

"Dinner's ready,” Cordelia said, bringing out all the dishes.

Barney sat on one side, Cordelia, and Ronan on the other. She also thoughtfully asked Ronan if he wanted a drink.

"Drink? Are you okay with that?" Ronan turned his head, looking at Cordelia with half-closed eyes.

Cordelia knew Ronan was just putting on a lovey-dovey front in front of Deanna. She didn't understand what was going on between them, but Ronan always acted more affectionately in front of Deanna. However, she couldn’t help but laugh. “When did I ever stop you from drinking? Want me to pour you a glass?”

Ronan handed over his glass, and Cordelia poured him a glass of red wine.

Cordelia also poured a glass for Deanna. “Drink up. I made these dishes, and if they don't taste good, I hope you won't mind."

"Della, you're too modest. When has Ronan ever complained about your cooking? Look, you were mad at him the other day and only made him toast, didn't he still enjoy it?" Barney joked.

Cordelia knew he didn't like Deanna and was trying to help her.

"Barney, can you not spill the beans?" Cordelia pretended to be angry.

"Alright, alright, I'll shut up. As long as you two are happy, my illness will get better. Maybe I won't be sick at all. For my longevity, you guys must be happy," Barney continued.

Actually, he usually didn't talk this much.

"Okay."

The conversation between Barney and Cordelia practically exhausted Deanna's fake smile. She thought, “Cordelia, don't get too cocky.”
