The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 126

When Cordelia returned to the office, she walked through the lobby and noticed some renovation work going on. It seemed like the marble at the top of one of the lobby pillars had chipped off, and the workers were hurriedly fixing it. After all, the company's image was at stake. There was also a scaffold set up next to the pillar for the workers to carry out their work at height.

Cordelia and Brooklyn took a detour and returned to their respective offices.

The Audit Department was at the top floor and no one was loafing around there, so Cordelia had no idea if Ronan had shown up for work that day until she left for the day.

In the afternoon, Cordelia and Brooklyn planned to go shopping, hoping that Deanna hadn't finished filming her scenes yet.

They stood at the same spot as before, but there seemed to be no scenes with Deanna that day. They didn’t see her anywhere. Cordelia couldn't help but feel disappointed, and her heart grew increasingly anxious.

"Why don't you just shoot him a message and ask him where he is?" Brooklyn suggested, "Why are you two making things so complicated?"

"I'm not asking." Cordelia said, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.

They went to the shop again, and Cordelia found out that the sandalwood soap she wanted was sold out. The shop owner said that new stock was on its way and hadn't arrived yet. Ever since Deanna used that soap, Cordelia didn't want to use it anymore. She just habitually asked about it this time.

"It seems that Deanna's assistant bought all the sandalwood soap. Deanna is filming on this street." The shop owner excitedly shared, as if the fact that a celebrity's assistant had patronized his shop made his shop shine brighter.

"Her?" Cordelia thought to herself, wondering if Deanna got her soap from this shop the last time. Cordelia sensed a connection, but couldn't quite put her finger on it.

When she got home, Ronan was still not there. Cordelia was distracted all night, and when she went to bed, she felt like the temperature in the bedroom dropped a few degrees because he wasn't there.

It was freezing.

But the next day at noon, Cordelia suddenly spotted Ronan in the company's lobby.

She and Brooklyn were just returning from lunch and had just reached the entrance when they saw Ronan talking to Jordan near the pillar that was under renovation. Ronan had one hand in his pocket. He glanced at the entrance and saw Cordelia. Then he turned back to Jordan and resumed their conversation.

"Mr. Evans, Cordelia from the Finance Department has transferred to the Audit Department. I fired Manda, and I'm thinking of hiring a few more people. What do you think?" Jordan asked Ronan.

In fact, hiring people for the Finance Department didn't require Ronan's approval. Jordan was just using this opportunity to tell Ronan that he had fired Manda.

"No rush. Take your time." Ronan said to Jordan, but his gaze was on Cordelia.
