The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 233

After thinking it over, Cordelia decided to give Ronan a call. She still had his old number.

Seeing the name Cordelia pop up on his screen made a flood of memories rush back to Ronan. Finally, she had come to him.

"Mr. Evans, are you free?" Cordelia's voice came through the phone, devoid of any emotion.

"You're back in town?" Ronan teased her. "And I didn't even know?"

"I’ve been back for a while, started a firm with a partner. Got to make a living, right? But all the cases I wanted have been snapped up by you. I'm practically about to starve. Could you leave some for me, Mr. Evans?" Cordelia replied.

She knew that Ronan was fully aware of her situation, otherwise, he wouldn't be so specifically targeting her.

"What's the name of your firm?" Ronan asked.

"First Enterprises. It's just a small firm, nothing to write home about." Cordelia only understood part of the implications behind the name First Enterprises. Jamie thought she knew, but she hadn’t even read the messages from Jamie.

Ronan gritted his teeth, "I have time."

"How about I treat you to dinner and a c night of karaoke?" Cordelia asked, her teeth clenched but with a smile on her face.

"Dinner and karaoke? Is that how you conduct business?" Ronan retorted.

"What, are you not willing?" Cordelia joked, "I'm inviting you while five months pregnant. Can't you give me a little face? I'm about to go hungry."

"Where?" he asked.

"The Golden KTV. I'll treat you, when are you free?" Cordelia asked.

"After work."

"Then I'll book the room." Cordelia ended the call.

Since becoming pregnant, Cordelia felt like her stomach was squeezed so tight that she couldn't eat much. She had some soup for dinner and then hopped in a cab to the Golden KTV.

On the way, she received a call from Deanna.

As soon as Cordelia returned, Deanna got anxious. "Can we talk?" Deanna asked.

"I'm not really free right now," Cordelia replied.
