The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 250

"Do you have the day off?" Cordelia continued to probe Ronan.

"I do. I sorted it out with Emerson yesterday."

Cordelia figured that Ronan hadn't intentionally stayed home. After all, when Emerson had dropped by the day before, she hadn't even returned home yet. It's not like Ronan could predict the future. "Fair enough," was all Cordelia could muster in response.

"You mind?" he asked again.

"It's not that I mind. It just feels a bit wasteful to have you, a big-shot CEO, playing chauffeur for me," Cordelia responded sincerely.

"It's no big deal," Ronan replied nonchalantly.

Cordelia simply hummed in response. She was heavily pregnant and could only fit comfortably in the back seat. Initially, she had been reluctant to buckle her seat belt, but Ronan had insisted.

As he was helping her with the seat belt, Ronan's hand accidentally brushed against her bulging belly. It was firm, like an inflated balloon. Ronan's hand instinctively froze for a moment, his fingertips gently tracing a circle on her stomach.

Cordelia felt a twinge of guilt at his hesitation. After all, this was his child. Despite living under the same roof, he had never touched her belly before.

Ronan then moved to the driver's seat and started the car. Cordelia stared out of the window, and on several occasions, she felt the urge to tell Ronan that the child was his. But the memory of her mother's tragic fall and his ruthlessness kept her silent. Cordelia knew that her silence was cruel, but she just couldn't bring herself to be calm and composed.

Upon arriving at PrimeBuild Contractors, Ronan and Cordelia headed to the conference room together.

Hunter was initially disdainful of Cordelia's presence but his attitude changed when he saw Ronan trailing behind her. Suddenly, it all made sense why Will had called Cordelia separately. Perhaps Ronan had informed Will about the situation the previous night.

It wasn't Cordelia's influence that Will valued, it was the person behind her. After all, who wouldn't want the opportunity to collaborate with Lumos Enterprises. Ronan, a renowned figure in Millstone, was someone everyone knew.
