The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 281

Victoria breezed through the door.

She caught sight of Cordelia clutching Ronan's wrist, which took her by surprise a bit.

"What's going on, you two?" Victoria inquired.

"Wiping sweat." Ronan retorted casually, his gaze immediately reverted back to Cordelia's face.

"Are you going to keep your word?" Cordelia squinted at Ronan. The question clearly referred to her plan of going abroad.

"When have I ever not kept my word?" Ronan responded, his tone challenging.

Cordelia let go of Ronan's wrist.

"If you want to get all lovey-dovey, do it back at home. This is a hospital." Victoria chimed in. She then settled into a chair, picking up Cordelia's ultrasound report.

Cordelia breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Ronan's promise. She turned to Ronan, "Did I sweat?"

"A lot!" Ronan replied, either poking fun at Cordelia's anxiety or expressing genuine concern. He picked up a napkin from Victoria's table and dabbed Cordelia's forehead. He had never done that before.

"The baby looks fine, no umbilical cord around the neck, and it looks like a natural birth should be easy. Stay active." Victoria advised, scribbling down notes on Cordelia's medical record, "The baby is so well-behaved, why did you want to abort it in the first place?"

Cordelia's gaze instinctively shot towards Ronan.

Ronan returned her glance.

On their way back to Garden Estates, Cordelia asked Ronan, "Why did you come?"

"Tristi told me about your check-up, so I just dropped by. No particular reason." Ronan said.
