The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 310

Cordelia remembered the reason she had arranged to meet Brooklyn today; it was about serious matters, not the sudden topic about Ronan.

"My grandma passed away. Did you know?" Cordelia got back to the main topic, her appetite dwindling.

"Really? I didn't know. When? Don't be too upset. At least you're back with Mr. Evans now, otherwise, this year for you…” Brooklyn thought about the fact that Cordelia had lost three family members in succession this year. It would have been too much for anyone.

Cordelia was sad too. "I wanted to attend my grandma's funeral, but he wouldn't let me. I understand why, but I'm just sad. There are fewer and fewer people in this world that I can bid farewell to." Cordelia's eyes reddened.

Brooklyn patted her back. "When is your grandma's funeral?"

"Today."

"That explains it."

"Also, my aunt said that my grandma died in a fire. I always feel like something fishy is going on. And, didn't Samantha join the shooting of The High Society? The other day, I went to reconcile accounts with Pulse Technologies' finance director and found out Samantha was fired from the crew. She had been shooting for a while, and then was suddenly replaced. I feel there's more to this."

Brooklyn's spaghetti was almost finished. She propped her head with her hand, staring at Cordelia. "Who do you think it was?"

Cordelia didn't want to say, but a name came to mind… Deanna.

"Since you're worried, should I go check it out for you?" Brooklyn offered.

"No need, you won't find anything. Plus, Samantha knows you, and she would definitely be on guard." Cordelia said while eating.

Thinking of her grandma's funeral today and her sitting here calmly eating a sandwich, Cordelia lost her appetite. She put down her spoon.
