The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 372

Millstone.

On set at the Regency Hotel.

Samantha unexpectedly landed the role of the antagonist, Emily.

Emily was a seductive beauty who toyed with men as if they were mere playthings. She was cunning, ruthless, and a constant thorn in the side of the protagonist. Yet, given her humble beginnings, everything she did had a justifiable reason, which made her character both attractive and dangerous. If performed well, Samantha could win over fans; if not, she would face a storm of criticism.

Samantha saw the potential in the character. This was the best role she had ever had, and she was determined to do it justice.

Moreover, she felt a strong connection with the production team. They had sent a car to pick her up, and she was given the best role. Although the sudden stroke of luck seemed unbelievable to Samantha, who was to say that it wasn't her time to shine after years of hard work?

In addition to this movie, she also had a part in another film called "Your Secret."

As Deanna was sidelined, and her comeback elusive, now was Samantha's time to shine.

However, one day after her scenes were finished, the producer told her that someone was looking for her.

She went to the prop room at the back of the set. Inside was a man in a black suit. The atmosphere was both eerie and sinister.

"Who are you...?" Samantha asked apprehensively.

"You don't need to know who I am, but I have a task for you."

"Why me?" Samantha asked, puzzled.

What she really wanted to ask was, "How much are you going to pay me?"

She was juggling two films and had received a payment of $1.5 million. She wanted to buy a house in Millstone as soon as possible, but she was still short of 30% for the down payment.

"Why you?" The man chuckled coldly. "How do you think you got this role? Even though Emily is not a likable character, there are still tons of people who want to play her. Do you think you got it by luck? Having no education, no connections, and no fans?"

Samantha's heart sank. She had thought it was her time to rise to stardom. No wonder they had sent a car to pick her up for the audition. It seemed that the price of her good luck had been predetermined behind the scenes. She had just failed to realize it and had walked right into the trap.
