The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 414

Olen and Amanda had returned to Canada.

After Cordelia left, Ronan was in a sour mood. Amanda felt guilty, and was convinced that her and Olen's presence was the reason for Cordelia's departure. As such, she expressed her desire to return to Canada.

Deep down, Amanda entertained the idea that Ronan would ask them to stay, given their fondness for Callum. The joy of spending quality time with a grandson was one of life's greatest pleasures.

At the time, Ronan was smoking. Without a second thought, he said, "Okay."

Once spoken, words couldn’t be taken back, just like water that had been poured. So, they returned to Canada with heavy hearts. Now, only two housekeepers, Janice and Anita, were left.

Upon realizing that Ronan was adamant about not going, Emerson tried to sway Callum. "Hey, Callum, I want your dad to go to Birchwood." Emerson crouched down and persuaded Callum with a flattering tone.

Callum gave Emerson a side-eye. "I'll think about what you said."

Against Callum, Emerson was utterly outmatched – even a solid argument was of no use.

Callum sat down next to his dad. "Dad, is Birchwood where Great-grandpa lived? You always said you'd take me there. I've never been there before!"

Ronan didn't respond.

"Speaking of which, my son told me he's smitten with a girl. He didn’t have a crush throughout his four years at university, but suddenly fell for someone in grad school. I'd like to meet her," Janice added.

Janice was unaware that Cordelia was at Birchwood. Seeing that Mr. Emerson and little Callum were both trying to convince Ronan to go, she decided to stoke the fire.

The three of them remained silent, waiting for Ronan's response.

Callum nudged his father gently. "Dad, say yes."

After a moment of silence, Ronan responded, "Alright. We'll go to Birchwood with your Uncle Emerson."
